Worst in the World: Tyson Fury vs Braun Strowman-Crown Jewel 2019

(NOTE: Merry Christmas everyone! Now, obviously, this is a week late and not what I had teased in the last post. I had a lot of schoolwork that needed to be done and things kind of got away from me. At the same time, I wasn't able to sign up for Impact Plus (the payment wouldn't go through, for some reason) so I decided to change course until I get that sorted out. Once I can figure that out, that match will be covered here. But as a make-up for missing an entire week, I'll be uploading another entry tomorrow as well. So, with that said, onto the post!) The bar for celebrity wrestling matches has gone up considerably in the last few years. Once a pretty blatant piece of publicity that would contribute decent at best and horrible at worst (I'm looking at you, Jenna Morasca), the last few years have seen some non-wrestlers step in the ring and put on some legitimately good matches. Whether they be fun watches like Johnny Knoxville vs Sami Zayn or Shaquille O'Neal team...

Worst in the World: Team RAW vs Team SmackDown Men's Elimination Match-Survivor Series 2017

Special thanks to  RETROMANIACOS  for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.  BRAND WARFARE! Since the brand split in 2016, Survivor Series has become WWE's yearly event where RAW and SmackDown superstars square off, all in the name of brand superiority. Admittedly, the allure of brand warfare has been snuffed out due to how often the show's rosters change (and the ill-fated Wild Card rule), but back when the new brand split first started, the new format for Survivor Series was still a fun idea. And considering how great the 2016 Survivor Series' Men's match was, you'd be forgiven for having high hopes for the next year's installment. And low and behold, WWE brought out plenty of big boys for 2017. It's Team RAW, consisting of Braun Strowman, Finn Bálor, Samoa Joe, Triple H, and RAW general manager Kurt Angle (whose job was on the line in this match), versus Team SmackDown, consi...

Worst in the World: The Wyatt Swamp Fight-The Horror Show at Extreme Rules

The 2020 Wrestling Observer Awards are officially out, and as always, a Worst Match of the Year has been voted on. The unlucky winner this year is Bray Wyatt vs Bruan Strowman in the Wyatt Swamp Fight from the oddly named Horror Show at Extreme Rules, a show that also featured a match where you could only win by extracting your opponents' eye. It was a weird show. But back to the match. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, where having fans in the stands was not an option, the cinematic style became a favorite form of match presentation for just about any company that could afford to do it. We got some great ones, like the Stadium Stampede, the Boneyard match, and the Firefly Funhouse match. However, by the end of the year, the concept was clearly starting to overstay its welcome. AEW's own chapter in the Deletion series underwhelmed, Impact seemed to just make matches like Ken Shamrock vs Sami Callihan and Moose vs EC3 cinematic for funsies, and WWE sacrificed one of its mos...

Worst in the World: Brock Lesnar in Saudi Arabia

Brock Lesnar is still a great wrestler. I will stand by that. Since returning to WWE, Lesnar has had great matches, whether they be traditionally great matches like his bouts with AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan, or balls to the wall, fast-paced, action-packed matches that are short on psychology but make up for it with excitement, see his matches with Finn Bálor and Goldberg. Again, I will stand by this, Brock Lesnar is a great wrestler...when he wants to be. When he doesn't, he's unbearable and damages the show and the wrestlers he's working with. His match with Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania 32 is infamous for how little Lesnar cared, as said by Ambrose himself. Braun Strowman's short defeat at the hands of Lesnar at No Mercy 2017 left a lot to be desired and severely halted his momentum. And of course, Kofi Kingston got his feel-good WWE Championship reign snuffed in eight seconds at the hands of Lesnar, and hasn't even gotten close to getting back to the main event si...
