My Thoughts on RAW (5/22/17): BRAY WYATT, GET OUT OF MY YARD!

  • We kick off the show with Bray Wyatt.
All I think of now. Wyatt says a bunch of nonsense before Roman Reigns interrupts him. He says if Wyatt is going to run his mouth in his yard he better do it to his face. Wyatt laughs it off and says he is the only one who can beat Brock Lesnar. Reigns says he'll be the one to beat Brock Lesnar and questions how he's going to get Wyatt out of his yard. Kurt Angle comes out and says Reigns & Wyatt are the favorites to win the Fatal 5-way at Extreme Rules. Really, Bray Wyatt's the favorite? Has this guy ever won a big match? Angle decides to book Reigns vs Wyatt right now.
  • Bray Wyatt vs Roman Reigns-The two lock up before a double shoulder block. The two trade shots before Wyatt almost hits Sister Abigail quickly. Reigns avoids it and boots Wyatt out of the ring before he brings him back in. Wyatt stomps away at Reigns before hitting an Uranage, but Reigns comes back with a jumping clothesline. Reigns beats down Wyatt in the corner, only to get floored off a body block by Wyatt. Suddenly, Samoa Joe comes out and comes down to the ring. Joe tells Wyatt to get up and double team Reigns before he locks Reigns in the Coquina Clutch to cause a DQ. Joe breaks the hold on Reigns, allowing Wyatt to beat down on him, only for Joe to lock Wyatt in the Coquina Clutch. Seth Rollins runs down to make the save and dropkicks Joe out of the ring. Reigns catches Wyatt with a Superman Punch as the babyfaces stand tall.
  • Backstage, Reigns tells Rollins he doesn't need his help, but Rollins says he was only out there for Samoa Joe. Angle walks up and says Rollins & Reigns will face Wyatt & Joe. After Rollins & Reigns leave, the Drifter wanders in. Angle decides to put him in a match against Dean Ambrose.
  • Akira Tozawa vs Ariya Daivari-Tozawa starts off beating down Daivari before hitting a senton for a near fall. Daivari comes back with a clothesline for a near fall. Tozawa comes back with a bicycle kick, Daivari responds with a high knee, and Tozawa responds with a hurricanrana. Tozawa finishes Daivari off with a side suplex and a top rope senton for the win.
  • Charly Caruso interviews Sasha Banks. She says after tonight, she'll finally be able to get away from Alicia Fox & Noam Dar. Fox & Dar show up and mock her for being alone.
  • Elias Samson vs Dean Ambrose-Before the match, Samson plays his guitar and sings. Everybody boos. Samson says what RAW needs is what he is. Corey Graves says what he needs is a mute button. Corey Graves' hatred of the Drifter is the only positive of the Drifter being on RAW Anyways, the Miz & Maryse on commentary for this match. The two go back and forth before Ambrose hits two arm drags and locks in an armbar. Samson uses the ropes to his advantage before beating down Ambrose before the commercial break. We come back to Samson working over Ambrose with a headlock. Samson controls the match until Ambrose hits a swinging neckbreaker. Ambrose strikes away at Samson before clotheslining him down, only for Samson to catch him with a high knee when Ambrose dives at him. Ambrose comes back with the Lunatic Lariat, only for the Miz to run down and hit...Samson, giving him the DQ win. Ambrose tries to hit Dirty Deeds on Miz, but Samson saves him and hits a rolling cutter on Ambrose.
  • Backstage, Big Cass finds Enzo Amore knocked out. After a commercial break, we come back to Enzo coming to, saying he was jumped but doesn't know who did it. Cass tells Angle that he better find out who jumped Enzo before he does.
  • Before the match, Balor takes the mic and says the Balor Club is in the house. Balor says Anderson stands in his path, only for Paul Heyman to come out. He says no matter who Lesnar faces, he will victimize them. However, he says Balor is not a victim or an underdog and says he's the most talented performer in WWE today. He says he looks forward to seeing Brock Lesnar vs Finn Balor for the Universal Champion before Balor tells Heyman to give him a message; that he will win at Extreme Rules, he will go on to face Lesnar, and he will beat Brock Lesnar.
  • Finn Balor vs Karl Anderson with Luke Gallows-The match starts during the commercial break. The two go back and forth before Balor takes control, stomping away at Anderson. However, a distraction by Gallows allows Anderson to take control. Anderson controls the match until the two trade strikes, ending with Balor hitting a Pele Kick. Balor runs through Anderson, kicking him out of the ring before taking out Gallows with a running soccer kick off the apron. Balor goes for the Coup de Grace, but Anderson avoids it and hits a gorgeous spinebuster for a near fall. Anderson goes for a powerbomb, but Balor counters it and hits a double stomp. Anderson rolls out of the ring, only to take a somersault plancha. Back in the ring, Balor hits the Sling Blade followed by a corner dropkick and the Coup de Grace for the win. Pretty solid match.
  • Sasha Banks vs Alicia Fox with Noam Dar-Sasha almost gets the Bank Statement right away, but Fox avoids it and leaves the ring. Sasha ends up hitting a baseball slide before throwing Fox in the ring. Sasha gets distracted by Dar, allowing Fox to boot her off the ring apron. Back in the ring, Fox controls the match until Sasha hits a hanging double knee drop for the win. After the match, Sasha argues with Dar before slapping him. Fox ends up attacking her and hitting the scissor kick. Fox & Dar kiss in the ring and stand tall.
  • Backstage, Kalisto asks Apollo Crews why he's fighting Titus O'Neil's battles and questions if he attacked Enzo tonight. Crews says Titus is known around the world and providing him opportunities before Titus shows up with a GOLD FIDGET SPINNER! That's great. He offers Kalisto a spot in the Titus Brand, but Kalisto is having none of it. Titus says Kalisto made a mistake and that Crews will teach him a lesson in the ring tonight.
  • We get a Shattered Dreams Production from Goldust. Not gonna lie, I marked out. He says R-Truth's light is flickering, wait for another chance to shine on his silver screen. He says he's back in the director's chair he chooses how his next film will end. He ends by saying the Golden Age is back.
  • Charly Caruso interviews Alexa Bliss. She says she doesn't feel bad for Bayley after she hit her with a kendo stick and she wants to hit Bayley again. She says she's going to cover Bayley's body in bruises and she's going to do exactly what she'll do to Bayley at Extreme Rules to Mickie James tonight.
  • Apollo Crews with Titus O'Neil vs Kalisto-Kalisto starts off with kicks and a headscissor takedown. Kalisto calls for a dive, but Crews catches him with a dropkick for a near fall. Crews hits a delayed vertical suplex before locking in a front facelock. Crews hits a jumping roundhouse kick, but Kalisto avoids the spin-out powerbomb and gets a near fall off the roll up. Kalisto hits the Salida del Sol and gets the win.
  • Matt Hardy with Jeff Hardy vs Sheamus with Cesaro-The winner of this match gets to pick the stipulation for the tag title match at Extreme Rules. The two lock up before Hardy takes Sheamus to the ground. Sheamus fights to his feet and floors Hardy with a shoulder block before slapping on a headlock. Hardy fights out and clotheslines Sheamus out of the ring before almost getting the Twist of Fate when Sheamus gets back in the ring. Sheamus leaves the ring and rams Hardy into the barricade before doing the 10 Beats of the Bodhran and knocking Hardy off the apron. Back in the ring, Sheamus controls the match before Hardy rams Sheamus head into all three turnbuckles. Hardy goes to the top rope, but Sheamus meets him there and hits a rolling senton before the commercial break. We come back to Sheamus working over Hardy with a headlock. Sheamus controls the match until Hardy hits a tornado DDT. Hardy follows up with a Side Effect, but Hardy kicks out. Hardy calls for the Twist of Fate, but Sheamus blocks it and another side effect before hitting a high knee. Sheamus makes the cover, but Hardy grabs the ropes to breaks the fall. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick, but Hardy avoids it, Jeff Hardy takes out Cesaro on the outside before Matt Hardy hits the Twist of Fate for the win. Fine match, nothing special. After the match, the Hardys announce that they'll defend the titles at Extreme Rules in a steel cage match.
  • Austin Aries vs Tony Nese with Neville-Nese goes after Aries while he's distracted with Neville, but Aries comes back and hits a diving back elbow for a near fall. Aries goes to the front facelock before rolling up Nese for a near fall. Aries goes for the Last Chancery, but Nese avoids it and leaves the ring, leaving him open for a dive. Back in the ring, Nese takes control by kicking Aries' knee. Nese targets the knee, but Aries counters a suplex and goes for a double axe handle, but Nese catches him with a forearm. Nese does a delayed vertical suplex, but Aries turns it into a guillotine choke. Nese is able to power out, but Aries quickly locks in the Last Chancery for the win. Fine match, nothing special. After the match, Neville attacks Nese and locks in the Rings of Saturn as Aries yells that he can't do that to them.
  • Mickie James vs Alexa Bliss-The two lock up and go back and forth before Mickie hits a spin kick, a high knee, a forearm, and a neckbreaker for a near fall. Mickie follows up with a crossface strikes before kicking a seated Alexis in the face. Mickie goes for the Mick-a-rana, but Alexa blocks it, hits a forearm strike and a DDT for the win. After the match, Alexa attacks Mickie with a kendo stick before Bayley makes the save. Bayley gets the kendo stick, but Alexa rolls out.
  • Bray Wyatt & Samoa Joe vs Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns-So after Joe attacked Wyatt at the beginning of the show, naturally, they're teaming in the main event. Time heals all wounds I guess...two hours. Rollins takes the fight to both Joe & Wyatt, only to be knocked off the apron into the barricade before the commercial break. We come back to Rollins dropkicking Wyatt before tagging in Reigns, who hits a Samoan Drop before calling for the Superman Punch. However, a distraction from Joe allows the heels to take over. Joe throws Reigns into the barricade outside the ring before getting the tag, where he throws Reigns into the apron and back into the ring. The heels control the match until Reigns throws Joe into the post outside the ring and hits a drive by dropkick. Reigns sends Wyatt out of the ring before making the hot tag to Rollins. Rollins runs wild, hitting a blockbuster on Joe before diving on Wyatt and hitting a Sling Blade on Joe. Rollins throws Joe out of the ring and hits a suicide dive on him & Wyatt. Back in the ring, Rollins goes to the top rope, but Wyatt yanks him down. Joe & Wyatt go for a double superplex, but Rollins knocks them both down and hits a double crossbody. Rollins for the V-Trigger, but Wyatt saves Joe. Reigns takes out Wyatt before Rollins hits an enziguri on Joe. Reigns goes for a Superman Punch, but Joe dodges it, causing Rollins to take it. Rollins & Reigns argue before Wyatt pulls Reigns out of the ring and Joe locks in the Coquina Clutch for the submission win. Fine match, nothing special.
  • We close the show, Kurt Angle tells Finn Balor he'll be facing Samoa Joe and Bray Wyatt in a triple threat, while mentioning that Seth Rollins will face Roman Reigns.

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: What is the Worst Wrestling Match of All Time?

Note: This series is based off a YouTube series " The Search for the Worst " by I Hate Everything, where he reviews every movie on IMDB's Bottom 100. It's a great, funny series and I'd recommend checking it out. Have you ever just thought to yourself "What is the worst match of all time?"? I don't mean something like a boring John Cena-Randy Orton match, I mean a match where the wrestlers have zero chemistry, little wrestling ability, or literally no idea what they are actually doing. I've thought about this for a while, and I've decided to finally figure it out. So I'm going to watch any match that is: a) A winner of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for the Worst Worked Match of the Year. or:  b) Listed on the 100 worst rated wrestling matches of all time on the Internet Wrestling Database .   (Note: Some matches appear on awards that aren't on the list.) There are 115 (EDIT: Now 99)  matches on here. I pu

Worst in the World: Trash at the Beach

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Just over a month ago, I briefly covered the massive success the WWF was having in 1999. Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock are at the top of the card. Triple H is on the rise to the main event. Mankind is playing the ultimate likable & respected babyface. Names like the Undertaker, Kane, and the Big Show are all major players. The undercard is stacked with big names like D-Generation X, D'Lo Brown, and Ken Shamrock, rising stars like The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian, and new signings like Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, and the Dudley Boyz. The WWF was so red hot in 1999 that even an all-time bad WrestleMania in WrestleMania XV couldn't slow them down. But there was one other factor that made 1999 such a good year for the WWF; the fact that their main competitor, WCW, was beginning to crack. At the same time the WWF was reaching the highest heights they'd ever reache
