- We get a promo package for Ruby Riot. She says she sacrificed a lot over the years to get to NXT and winning the NXT Women's Championship will be validation for those sacrifices.
- Nikki Cross does a sit-down interview...sort of. She gleefully hops up on the chair but slaps away the sound guy's hand when he tries to put a mic on her and laughs. There are constant cuts in the interview, cutting to her slapping the boom mic before yelling. Cross then gets real close to the camera and says she'll draw a line under Ruby Riot's name and take everything from Asuka. This was great. Nikki Cross is fantastic.

- #DIY come out to the ring. They say they want a fair one-on-one rematch for the NXT Tag Team Championships. They are interrupted by Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss. Tino Sabbatelli is shockingly over. Like...really over. They say the line for title shots starts behind them. This is a team that has yet to win a match on TV. Then again, Jinder Mahal & Breezango are getting title shots, so I guess win-loss records don't really matter anymore...if they ever mattered in the first place. #DIY says that if there is a line, Sabbatelli & Moss crossed it. They then boot Sabbatelli & Moss from the ring. A referee shows up and now we're having a tag match.
- #DIY vs Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss-Moss knees Ciampa in the gut to start, only to take a big chop & a back elbow. Moss catches Ciampa off a leapfrog and hits a fallaway slam before tagging in Sabbatelli. The heels beat down Ciampa in the corner before Sabbatelli hits a dropkick. The heels control the match until Ciampa blocks a suplex and hits a suplex of his own on Sabbatelli. Gargano gets the hot tag and runs wild on Moss, hitting a schoolboy enziguri and a neckbreaker before hitting a spear through the ropes, only for Sabbatelli to break up the fall. Gargano sends Sabbatelli out of the ring and the hits a suicide dive onto Moss before Ciampa hits a diving knee drop off the apron on Sabbatelli. Back in the ring, Gargano hits a double knee strike before DIY Meet in the Middle for the win. Fine match, nothing special. After the match, William Regal comes out and congratulates DIY on their win. He says it's obvious they deserve a title shot before Paul Ellering & the Authors of Pain warn Regal that the AOP will end DIY's career. Regal says he's willing to take that chance, so Ellering tells him their blood is on his hands. Regal then informs both teams that they will face off at Takeover: Chicago in a ladder match for the NXT Tag Team Championships.
- Kayla Braxton interviews Kassius Ohno. He says he came back to NXT for the NXT Championship, but he failed against Bobby Roode. He says when you fall down you get right back up and that he tears down the building everywhere he goes. He is interrupted by Andrade "Cien" Almas, who questions why Ohno came back to NXT. I think we saw this already tonight. Ohno says Almas cares more about what happens after his matches than the actual matches and challenges him to a match next week. Almas accepts.
- Before his entrance, Roderick Strong says that becoming NXT Champion is what he came to NXT to do, and now it's time to do it. After Strong's entrance, Hideo Itami says he's going to Takeover: Chicago and Strong is going to go to sleep.

We come back the two fighting in the corner before Itami lands a big kick on Strong. Itami follows up with a back elbow for a near fall before slapping on a headlock. Strong starts to fight out, but Itami takes him back down and drops the knee twice on Strong's head before lowering his knee pad, teases another knee drop, then gently kicks Strong's face. It was funny. Itami controls the match until Strong blocks a suplex before suplex Itami onto the ropes. Strong stomps away at Itami before picking him up for some chops. Strong hits a backbreaker for a near fall before applying an armbar. Itami fights back, only for Strong to hit a pumphandle back breaker for near fall. Strong controls the match until Itami starts striking & kicking Strong. Strong rolls out of the ring and pulls Itami off the apron before dropping him on it before the commercial break. We come back to Strong working over Itami before Itami hits a jawbreaker. Both men go down after a double clothesline spot before Itami strikes away at Strong. Itami hits a suplex before hitting a tornado DDT into the ropes and a diving clothesline for a near fall. Strong avoids a back fist and hits an Olympic slam for a near fall.
