Payback 2016 Predictions

After a pretty disapointing WrestleMania, it's Payback time!...even though only one of the matches on the card is a WrestleMania rematch...and it's on the pre-show. Anyway, with 8 matches on the card and four guys on the poster who don't have a match on the card, here are my predictions for Payback 2016

Pre Show

1. Kalisto (c) vs Ryback-United States Championship
Winner: Ryback

In the only rematch on the card, Kalisto defends the United States Championship against the Big Guy Ryback. Kalisto retained the title at WrestleMania, and these two have done literally done nothing since. I'm going with Ryback for the win just because the last time they fought on Smackdown (on Smackdown...) Ryback got the win.

Main Card

1. Dolph Ziggler vs Baron Corbin
Winner: Baron Corbin

Since Baron Corbin made his debut on the RAW after WrestleMania, he has been beating the piss out of Dolph Ziggler...a lot. So it's only natural that the two face off at Payback. Corbin needs to win this, and I can't see Ziggler winning this match, since Corbin is the new guy and a potential new star. I'm going with Corbin.

2. Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs The Vaudevillians-#1 Contenders for the Tag Team Championships
Winner: The Vaudevillians

I'm so excited to see that two tag teams from NXT are already being pushed to the top of the tag division. Enzo & Cass face off against The Vaudevillians with the winners becoming the #1 Contenders to the Tag Team Championship. As for who wins, it's not that easy. On one hand, Enzo & Cass are like Carmella, hot as hell (and you can't teach that), and it would make sense to have them win. However, I think the Vaudevillians would benefit winning the match and getting that push. Enzo & Cass are over regardless. I'm picking the Vaudevillians
3. Charlotte (c) vs Natalya-Women's Championship
Winner: Charlotte

I hate Charlotte as champion. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I think she & Ric Flair hurt the women's division more than they help it. Constantly ruining matches with DQs and interference is one thing, but they even managed to make what should have been the most important match in WWE women's wrestling history into a farce with a cheap win for Charlotte. I want Natalya to win this match just because I can't stand Charlotte, but it's not happening. Charlotte's probably going to retain, considering how WWE never wants to push Natalya.
4. Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens
Winner: Sami Zayn

In what could possibly be the blow off to a two year feud, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens face off in the singles match we probably should have had at WrestleMania. This one was another tough one to pick. However, I'm going with Zayn. Owens has beaten Zayn in their last two singles matches, and Zayn hasn't gotten a really big win on the main roster yet. Giving it to Zayn
5. Dean Ambrose vs Chris Jericho
Winner: Dean Ambrose

In the battle of the talk shows, Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho face off at Payback. This was the feud a lot of people assumed would be happening at WrestleMania, but never happened. As for who wins, it's got to be Ambrose. Ambrose has gotten the reputation of losing every big match he's ever in (kind of like Bray Wyatt) and his extended squashing at the hands of Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania made him look terrible. Ambrose needs a big win and Chris Jericho is just the guy to give him that win.
6. The Miz (c) vs Cesaro-Intercontinental Championship
Winner: Cesaro (by DQ)

In all honesty, this is probably the best match up they could do for the Intercontinental Championship. Not wrestling wise, but just by the wrestlers themselves. You've got Cesaro, one of the most over & easily likeable wrestlers on the roster, against The Miz, one of the biggest heels & easily dislike-able wrestlers on the roster. It's gold. As for who wins, I'm going with Cesaro, but by DQ. Something tells me Maryse will cause a cheap finish and give Cesaro the win, but let Miz keep the belt.
7. Roman Reigns (c) vs AJ Styles-WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Winner: Roman Reigns

It's not happening. No matter how bad you want it too happen, it's just not happening. Don't get me wrong, I want it to happen too, but there is just about zero chance of AJ Styles winning the WWE Championship on Sunday. Roman Reigns can say that he's not a bad guy or good guy all he wants, but make no mistake, Reigns is still firmly a good guy. They show him doing charity work, saving his friends, getting beat down by heels. How is this guy not a babyface? I don't like it anymore than the next guy, but I'm going with Reigns to retain at Payback

Oh, right. Almost forgot. Arguably the thing that has the most people talking about Payback is what exactly is up with Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson Who's side are they on? Is AJ Styles lying and they're all together? Is this all just a rouse and Roman Reigns has been the leader the whole time to throw everyone off. Are they just working independently and not on anyone's side? Is someone else the leader? Well, here's what I think.
I think that after Reigns wins, Gallows and Anderson are going to beat down Reigns, coming from backstage wearing zip up hoodies. This is followed by them helping Styles up to his feet, only to beat him down as well. After the beat downs, they both take off their hoodies to reveal they are wearing t-shirts; Balor Club t-shirts. Finn Balor debuts and hits the Coup de Grace on both Reigns and Styles and holds the WWE World Heavyweight Championship up high to end the show.

Son of a...alright, forgot about this too. So, who will Vince pick to run RAW; Stephanie & Triple H or Shane. Honestly, I don't really know. I keep hearing about a brand split, but I honestly don't think there are enough people on the roster to split it. If I had to go with my gut, I'm guessing Vince will pick the Authority to run RAW. If they do the brand split, then the Authority still runs RAW, and Shane runs SmackDown (poor Shane).

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: Nia Jax's Worst Matches

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Nia Jax's first run with the WWE can really only be described as hard to watch. Sure, she had a few stand-out matches, most notably (and surprisingly) her match with Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank, and an underrated gem with Bayley at NXT TakeOver: London, but those were always outshined by her most infamous matches and moments. She's since returned to WWE and, for the most part, seems to have improved a bit, but the reputation she got from her initial run is gonna be hard to shake off. This week, I'll be looking at some of Jax's worst matches. These include just flat-out bad matches, and matches that have become infamous examples of her reckless in-ring work. Match #1: vs Charlotte Flair-April 10th, 2017 Raw The first match we'll be looking at is from the April 10, 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw, when Nia took on Charlotte Flair. The two had been on the losing e

Worst in the World: Carmella vs Asuka: How to Destroy an Aura

Throughout the entire history of the WWE, we've never seen, and probably will never see again, a woman booked as strong as Asuka was to start her run. Coming into WWE in 2015 with over a decade of experience wrestling in her native Japan as Kana, Asuka was immediately treated like a huge deal. Hell, even from the first time we saw her on a WWE broadcast, she was seated in the crowd of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn next to two Hall of Famers in Ric Flair & Sgt. Slaughter. Officially debuting in October 2015, Asuka would go her entire NXT career, nearly two full years, without being pinned or submitted. She was booked so strong, in fact, that instead of dropping the NXT Women's Championship in what would be her last match in NXT at the time to Ember Moon (even after sustaining an injury), an act that is almost always the case for champions leaving NXT for the main roster, Asuka retained and later vacated the title, keeping her streak intact. For a company that is more than willing t
