My Thoughts on NXT (2/24/16): Jason Jordan: Suplex King

(Sorry I haven't posted at all in the last three days, I've been super busy with school. Everything should be back to normal)
Another week, another NXT. Here are my thought's on Wednesday's episode
  • American Alpha vs Blake & Murphy-First off, Murphy yells "THIS IS OUR TIME TO GET THOSE TAG TEAM TITLES BACK!" before he faces the non-champions in a non-title match. Come one, man. Gable and Murphy start with Gable & Jordan showing off their amateur wrestling skills, followed by a few arm drags and wrist locks. Blake tags in, and is immediately caught with a few belly to back suplex. Blake goes for one of his own, but Gable lands on his feet and hits a spinning arm drag, flying head scissors, and another incredible arm drag. God, Gable is just so incredible. The fact that he's this good this early in his career is amazing, and I seriously bet he could be WWE World Heavyweight Champion one day. Murphy tags in, and Gable works over the arm again. Murphy is able to tag in Blake, but the two get worked over by Gable, and American Alpha dropkick the two out of the ring before the commercial. We come back to Jordan working over Blake. Blake & Murphy were former NXT Tag Team Champions, by the way. Gable & Jordan hit a lovely double Northern Lights suplex for a two, and Gable continues to work the arm of Blake. Blake goes for a body slam, but Gable keeps the arm bar on. God, he's just so damn good it's unbelievable. After being demolished for the entire match, Blake & Murphy finally gain control with a huge clothesline by Murphy for a two. The heels work over Gable with a double team move, but forgot who was legal and have an awkward moment where Blake goes for the pin and Murphy goes on the apron, before fixing their mistake. Blake & Murphy continue to work on Gable before Blake misses an elbow drop. Despite Murphy tagging in and grabbing his foot, Gable makes the tag and it is JASON JORDAN HOT TAG TIME! Honestly, Jason Jordan is right up their with Pentagon Jr, Mil Muertes, and Kevin Owens as my favorite wrestlers right now purely because of his hot tags. Jordan runs wild on Blake, including (and I sh*t you not) a BELLY-TO-BELLY SUPLEX WHERE HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TO LEAVE HIS FEET ON THE RELEASE. THAT IS THE GREATEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN. THIS GUY MAKES BROCK LESNAR LOOK LIKE BRADEN WALKER. Jordan catches Murphy off a dive and belly-to-bellys him, hits a spear in the corner on Blake. Murphy tries to get Jordan, but Jordan just tosses him into the air. American Alpha hits Grand Amplitude for the win. Good match, mostly because Gable & Jordan are the best team in the world right now. F*ck the Young Bucks, dude, these guys are twice as good as the Young Bucks. Give me crazy Jason Jordan Hot Tags over a Superkick Party any day of the week.
  • William Regal announces Sami Zayn vs Samoa Joe in a 2-out-of-3 Falls match for the #1 Contendership for the NXT Championship next week. Also next week, a new superstar debuts. Who is it? I don't know, but I'm sure he'll be great. Possible the greatest that's ever lived. But anyway, Joe vs Zayn II is going to tear the house down.
  • Elias Sampson vignette. Self-explanatory.
  • Apollo Crews vs Christopher Girard-Hey look, it's Biff Busick. I'll admit, I know nothing about Biff Busick except for that Ronda Rousey chopped him once in the neck. All I know is that this guy looks pretty damn generic. He looks like a template Create-a-Wrestler in WWE 2K16. Girard wrestles Crews to the ground at first, but Crews quickly takes control. You can really tell the difference between NXT Jobbers and Future NXT Superstars by how much offense in a match. Girard gets a good amount in of offense in this match. It's what separates him from Corey Hollis. That guy must have naked pictures of Stephanie McMahon considering how long he's been in NXT without doing anything. Like I said, Girard takes over with some hard strikes including an absolutely BRUTAL looking uppercut for a two. Graves & Phillips put over the move, but can't seem to stop talking about Girard's face. I get it, he's a weird looking dude, kind of looks like any even rattier Justin Credible, but just focus on his wrestling. Girard continues to dominate Crews with headlocks, which he actual tries to make look like a submission hold instead of just a rest hold (*cough cough* Randy Orton *cough*). Crews manages to escape the headlock by getting up and falling down, and Crews runs wild with spear-like takedowns and splashes. Crews hits the spin out powerbomb for the win. Another good match, Girard impressed me. My only complaint is that he got a lot of offense in for an (at the time) enhancement talent over someone who is supposed to be a top star. It didn't make Crews look all that strong. Still, a good match
  • Backstage, Bayley and Carmella get interviewed by Alex Reyes. Bayley puts over Carmella, saying she'll be a great champion one day. Carmella says she coming for the title after this match. Reyes asks Bayley about Asuka, and Bayley (sounding pretty nervous, actually) says she knows what Asuka wants. Great segment, props to Bayley for not brushing this challenge off like some people on the main roster react to challengers who are supposed to be threats (*cough cough* Cena & Reigns *cough*)
  • They show "security camera footage" (which is somehow from two different angles, one right at the doorway) of Dash & Dawson attacking Enzo Amore in the parking lot. Big Cass makes the save, before being restrained by two other wrestler. Good job guys, two guys attack a guy two-on-one, and you stop the guy who is trying to save the other guy. Nice attempt to make the segment feel more real.
  • Tommaso Ciampa vs Bull Dempsey-Oh Bull...Yep, it's one of those awkward matches where a guy who got released like three weeks ago shows up because of the taping schedule. He faces Tommaso "Not Really on the Roster, But is on the Roster, Apparently" Ciampa. Also, Corey Graves makes a reference to "the real Jay Cutler" aka bodybuilder Jay Cutler. I don't know why, but I thought that was funny. Also funny, the referee needing to help Bull take off his shirt. They're finally about to lock up, but Bull ups for some jumping jacks instead. Ciampa starts to do them, but opts to kick Bull instead. Bull takes the advantage with an arm drag and a sick elbow, followed up by a less-than sick senton. Ciampa hits a...move. I don't know what it was, but it was a move. Ciampa jumped into what looked like a Boss Man Slam style chokeslam, but somehow this hurt Bull. I don't know, wrestling is weird. Ciampa tries to move Bull, but can't, so he opts to beat the sh*t out of him. Ciampa works the arm for a while until Bull runs wild with some pretty weak punches, but gets caught and put in Ciampa's bridging armbar. Despite Ciampa not being able to bend Bull's arm at all, he gets the submission win. Pretty sloppy match if I'm going to be honest.
  • Backstage, the cameraman wanders into Samoa Joe. Like, he's just walking around and suddenly "Samoa Joe". Joe says NXT is a hot product because of him, and the NXT Championship should be his.
  •  Sami Zayn gets interviewed by Rich Brennan. Zayn says he's ready to face Joe next week, and that he's had enough 2-out-of-3 Falls matches in his career to know what to do.
  • Bayley & Carmella vs Eva Marie & Nia Jax-First off, Corey Graves stopping his conversation with Tom Phillips during Eva's entrance. Carmella & Eva start the match with Carmella hitting two Thesz presses in a row. Eva tags out and Nia works over Bayley. Eva tags in and gets beat up by Bayley & Carmella as we got to commercial. We get back with Carmella holding Eva in a headlock. Nia makes a blind tag and starts to work over Carmella. Eva tags in and almost gets rolled up before making another tag to Nia, who puts Carmella in a bear hug. Nia continues to work over Carmella with a cobra clutch before Carmella dodges a charging Nia and makes the tag to Bayley. Bayley runs wild on Eva Marie. Bayley hits the Bayley-to-Belly, but Nia pulls her off of the pin. Bayley tags in Carmella, who locks in her headscissor submission, but Nia breaks that up. Nia tags in, hits three leg drops, and Eva tags in for the pin and win. Decent match, nothing special
  • William Regal and Finn Balor are being interviewed by Rich Brennan. Regal says that because Balor is about to pass Neville's record for the longest NXT Championship reign, the two are going to face off next week. That's going to be great.
And that's about it. Overall, a fine episode of NXT. Nothing too special happened, and most of the good stuff was stuff that set up other stuff next week. Highlights were American Alpha (of course) and the Bayley interview. One major lowlight was the Ciampa-Dempsey match. Next week's show should be much better.
Thanks for reading. Be sure to share if you enjoyed.

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: Nia Jax's Worst Matches

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Nia Jax's first run with the WWE can really only be described as hard to watch. Sure, she had a few stand-out matches, most notably (and surprisingly) her match with Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank, and an underrated gem with Bayley at NXT TakeOver: London, but those were always outshined by her most infamous matches and moments. She's since returned to WWE and, for the most part, seems to have improved a bit, but the reputation she got from her initial run is gonna be hard to shake off. This week, I'll be looking at some of Jax's worst matches. These include just flat-out bad matches, and matches that have become infamous examples of her reckless in-ring work. Match #1: vs Charlotte Flair-April 10th, 2017 Raw The first match we'll be looking at is from the April 10, 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw, when Nia took on Charlotte Flair. The two had been on the losing e

Worst in the World: Carmella vs Asuka: How to Destroy an Aura

Throughout the entire history of the WWE, we've never seen, and probably will never see again, a woman booked as strong as Asuka was to start her run. Coming into WWE in 2015 with over a decade of experience wrestling in her native Japan as Kana, Asuka was immediately treated like a huge deal. Hell, even from the first time we saw her on a WWE broadcast, she was seated in the crowd of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn next to two Hall of Famers in Ric Flair & Sgt. Slaughter. Officially debuting in October 2015, Asuka would go her entire NXT career, nearly two full years, without being pinned or submitted. She was booked so strong, in fact, that instead of dropping the NXT Women's Championship in what would be her last match in NXT at the time to Ember Moon (even after sustaining an injury), an act that is almost always the case for champions leaving NXT for the main roster, Asuka retained and later vacated the title, keeping her streak intact. For a company that is more than willing t
