  Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a fun & safe holiday season. And because it's the merriest day of the year, I thought it was only fitting to take a look at a Christmas-themed match for this edition of the Worst in the World. So I decided to take a trip back to TNA's 2007 Christmas episode. The whole episode is a ton of silly, Yuletide fun with every match on the show being Christmas-themed, all while Eric Young throws an episode-long Christmas party. There's one match on the show, however, that stands out for just how ridiculous it ends up being. Officially, it's called the "Silent Night, Bloody Night" match, but this match is probably better known as the "Barbed Wire Christmas Tree" match (so much so that IMPACT themselves uploaded the whole match on YouTube as the Barbed Wire Christmas Tree match ) for its inclusion of a Christmas Tree made out of barbed wire as a weapon...that was also hanging in the middle of the ring for some ...

If were to go back to July of 2011, right at the beginning of WWE's turn at the Summer of Punk, and ask fans of the WWE what they predicted the angle would bring to the company, I can almost guarantee that not a single person would say "Kevin Nash feuding with CM Punk." Sure, Nash had just come back to the company after just over six years in TNA, appearing in the 2011 Royal Rumble as Diesel, but seeing former stars make surprise appearances in the Rumble isn't uncommon. And considering Nash spent under three minutes in the match, and that he'd only wrestled 106 matches in those six years Nash was away from WWE (just over 15 matches per year) according to Cagematch.net, and that he has a well-documented history of injuries, it seemed like seeing Big Kev play a major part in a major storyline was unlikely, ...

Next week, I'll be celebrating my 25th birthday, which also means that I just recently crossed the anniversary of the first professional wrestling pay-per-view I ever attended. That would be the 2014 edition of TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs, which I got tickets to as a birthday present for my 18th birthday. So obviously, this show holds a place in my heart as the first pay-per-view I've ever been to. That being said, I can fully acknowledge that this show is kind of ass. It wasn't all bad, of course. Fellow Clevelander Dolph Ziggler and the late Luke Harper stole the show in their Intercontinental Championship ladder match opener (which up until literally two weeks ago was the best match I've seen live), Seth Rollins & John Cena had a fun tables match, and Dean Ambrose & Bray Wyatt were having a big, chaotic TLC match before the finish. It was such a success that Vince McMahon & WWE greenlit a whole reunion show for the extreme promotion live from the company's frequent venue, the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, in 2005, giving us ECW One Night Stand. It was also a huge success, prompting not just a follow-up show the next year, but a complete revival of ECW, now as a third brand for WWE. It's time to venture back into the wild world of pro-wrestling shoot fights; where wrestlers step into the ring for a scripted match, only for it to devolve into a real-life scrap, usually served up with a slice or two of good, old-fashioned beef. The last time I looked at a match-turned-fight, I covered the infamous bout between Antonio Inoki and the Great Antonio , in which the former strongman no-sold and stiffed Inoki, so Inoki responded by slapping & stomping him right out of the business. And today, I'll be taking a look at a match involving one of Inoki's New Japan counterparts, Akira Maeda. Trained in catch wrestling by the likes of Karl Gotch, Yoshiaki Fujiwara, and Inoki himself, Maeda was a legit fighter who would have no problem kicking ass if he needed to, something further exemplified by his 7-5 record...
