Worst in the World: Konnan vs Stevie Ray-Slamboree 1999

So I made, for lack of a better term, a goof...Last year, I got a comment from an anonymous user requesting I cover Konnan vs Stevie Ray from Slamboree 1999, a rematch from their match at World War 3 1998 that I'd already covered ....and then I forgot about it. Maybe it was because they accidentally said the match was at Uncensored 1999 and when I looked to find it on the card it wasn't there (and then I didn't look further than that), but whatever it was, it completely slipped my mind. If you're the person who recommended this match, I apologize for accidentally ignoring it, here is my consolation. Konnan and Stevie Ray had a bland, boring match at World War 3, but WCW decided that once wasn't enough for these two, so they got another pay-per-view match at Slamboree. This time, however, it wouldn't be part of the nWo in-fighting angle, as nWo Hollywood and nWo Wolfpac had joined back together following the Fingerpoke of Doom earlier that year. Konnan, however, ...

Worst in the World: Stevie Ray vs Konnan-World War 3 1998

We finally get to come back into some nWo in fighting. We've already looked at the terrible three team WarGames match and the Hulk Hogan/Randy Savage match where Savage both sided with and turned his back on the nWo, so now we get another, much lower-profile match-up between nWo Hollywood and nWo Wolfpac. It's Booker T's much less talented brother & slap jack enthusiast Stevie Ray of Hollywood taking on Konnan of the Wolfpac at World War 3 1998. Let's get into this. The match kicks off with lots of posing before Stevie Ray starts beating down Konnan in the corner. Stevie Ray definitely exceeds a five count, but the referee doesn't disqualify him because "WCW." After almost 40 seconds of that, Stevie Ray throws Konnan into the other corner, but Konnan gets his feet up and hits a somersault clothesline. Konnan stomps away at Stevie Ray before locking in an armbar. Stevie Ray fights back up and takes Konnan down with a superkick. Tony Schiavone says ...

Worst in the World: Team WCW vs nWo Wolfpac vs nWo Hollywood-Fall Brawl 1998

Leave it to WCW to have not one, but TWO great concepts and manage to f*ck both of them up at the same time. In 1998, the nWo split into two rival factions, the face nWo Wolfpac, led by Kevin Nash, and the heel nWo Hollywood, led by Hollywood Hogan. That's right, the nWo had gotten so big and so out-of-control that the only thing left to do was an nWo vs nWo angle. This angle led to a three team, three way WarGames match between Team WCW (Diamond Dallas Page, Roddy Piper, and The Ultimate Warrior), the nWo Wolfpac (Kevin Nash, Sting, and Lex Luger), and the nWo Hollywood (Hollywood Hogan, Bret Hart, and Stevie Ray). In perfect WCW fashion, they managed to take arguably their most beloved match and over complicate it, kind of like how they did with their most beloved stable. Like in WarGames, one person from each team starts in the match, followed by a new person after five minutes, then one every two minutes. Once everyone has entered the cages, the match can only be won by s...

Worst in the World: Hollywood Hogan vs The Warrior-Halloween Havoc 1998

"It's weird that my best match ever was with Hogan, and at the same time my worst match ever was with Hogan"-The Ultimate Warrior I have seen a few bad matches since I've started this list. They don't even compare to this match. This is one of the most drawn out, lazy, most uninteresting matches I've ever seen. It's so bad that Eric Bischoff, probably the biggest Hulk Hogan mark of all time, even called the match one of the worst in history. And let's just be completely honest here, this match exists so that Hogan could get his win back over Warrior from WrestleMania VI. I know that this sounds like a huge waste of money to sign a big name star like The Ultimate Warrior just to lose a match, but think back to all the things Bischoff has wasted money on ( like a pay-per-view at a motorcycle rally where you can't bring in money at the gate ), it doesn't seem too ridiculous. Ironically enough, this match, arguably the worst match in WCW hi...
