Worst in the World: The Barbed Wire Christmas Tree Match-TNA iMPACT (12/20/2007)

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a fun & safe holiday season. And because it's the merriest day of the year, I thought it was only fitting to take a look at a Christmas-themed match for this edition of the Worst in the World. So I decided to take a trip back to TNA's 2007 Christmas episode. The whole episode is a ton of silly, Yuletide fun with every match on the show being Christmas-themed, all while Eric Young throws an episode-long Christmas party. There's one match on the show, however, that stands out for just how ridiculous it ends up being. Officially, it's called the "Silent Night, Bloody Night" match, but this match is probably better known as the "Barbed Wire Christmas Tree" match (so much so that IMPACT themselves uploaded the whole match on YouTube as the Barbed Wire Christmas Tree match ) for its inclusion of a Christmas Tree made out of barbed wire as a weapon...that was also hanging in the middle of the ring for some ...

Worst in the World: The Golden Truth vs Breezango-Money in the Bank 2016

(Special thanks to Otter Empire for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) Comedy wrestling is one of the more divisive topics in wrestling right now. I for one think that comedy matches have their place in professional wrestling. I can sit down and enjoy an Orange Cassidy match, I've already preached my love for things like the Broken Hardys in TNA and the Firefly Fun House match, and I can't lie, The Wee-LC match between Hornswoggle & El Torito was significantly more fun than it had any business being. However, the most important thing about comedy wrestling is...the comedy. Because just like in film and TV, comedy isn't something that can venture into "so bad it's good" territory like horror or drama. If comedy is bad...it's just bad. And there's been no shortage of bad comedy matches. I've covered quite a few of them in this series, and there will absolutely be...

Worst in the World: The Blacktop Bully vs Dustin Rhodes-Uncensored 1995

Even before Vince Russo came to World Championship Wrestling, WCW had a habit of booking crazy, ridiculous gimmick matches. I've already taken a look at two of their most outrageous in the Chamber of Horrors , where the goal was to electrocute your opponent, and the Doomsday Cage match, where they made up the rules as they went along, but there other matches the company did that are almost as wacky. This is one of them. Infamously known as the match that cost both the competitors their jobs in WCW, it's the King of the Road match! Consisting of Dustin Rhodes, the future Goldust, and the Blacktop Bully, the former Demolition member Smash, the match pits the two not in a ring, but in a cage on a moving flatbed truck filled with hay, with the winner being the first to get to the top of the cage and sound a horn. This match is infamous for its completely ridiculous concept and, like I said, was the reason both Rhodes & Blacktop Bully were fired from WCW. WCW had a stric...

Worst in the World: Ultimate Warrior vs Goldust-In Your House 7

Remember that time the Ultimate Warrior came back in 1996 and everything he did was terrible? Well, it happened...boy, did it happen. Warrior returned to the WWF at WrestleMania XII for the infamous match with Triple H (then Hunter Hearst Helmsley) where he no sold a Pedigree and beat him in under two minutes: After that, Warrior proceeded to have only seven more matches, two of which weren't shown on TV or pay-per-view, and all of which were bad before being fired only four months after his return. It's a period of time I'm pretty sure everyone wants to forget. Aside from the aforementioned match with Triple H, arguably the worst match from this run was his match with Goldust at In Your House 7: Good Friends, Better Enemies, where he challenged for the Intercontinental Championship. Knowing what I know about Warrior's last WWF run, I have a feeling this won't be good. Let's get into this. So before the match starts, a large man in a suit and fedora att...

Worst in the World: Dustin Runnels & King Kong vs Awesome Kong & The Equalizer-Battlebowl

So...Battlebowl. If you didn't know, Battlebowl was a WCW pay-per-view they held once where wrestlers were randomly placed in tag matches, and the winners of the tag matches got put in a Battle Royal. The concept had been done twice before at Starrcade 1991 and 1992, and was only held once more after at Slamboree 1996, before TNA picked up the idea, calling it Joker's Wild. I actually think this was a really cool idea, seeing random wrestlers put together, regardless of if they were face or heel, and having them team together. This made a few cool tag teams we never thought we'd get too see, like Cactus Jack & Vader or Steve Austin & Ric Flair. Unfortunately, it also gave us Dustin Rhodes & King Kong facing off against The Equalizer & Kong's Colossal Kongs partner Awesome Kong (who is so obscure he doesn't have a Wikipedia page). First off, let's just talk about the people in this match. First, we've got white meat Dustin Rhodes in his b...
