The Match Facts The Match: Johnny Gargano vs Adam Cole The Event: NXT TakeOver: New York The Stipulation: Two Out Of Three Falls for the vacant NXT Championship Meltzer Rating: 5 1/2 stars Cagematch.net Rating: 9.20/10 Where to Watch: Various Services Depending on Region (Peacock, WWE Network, Binge, etc.) How We Got Here Originally, this match was going to be the final chapter in a critically acclaimed feud between Gargano and then-NXT Champion Tommaso Cia...

Match #1: Ember Moon vs Billie Kay Winner: Ember Moon Looks like Billie Kay is stepping into the role of "Wrestler who jobs to the new incoming indy star" that Tyler Breeze had in NXT and Tye Dillinger currently has. Billie Kay faces the debuting Ember Moon, better known as Athena on the indy scene, and Billie is definitely eating an O-Face tomorrow. I know I said that in the NXT review, but I'm almost 100% certain that's what's happening. Like, 99.99% certain. I'm going with Ember Moon for the win. Match #2: No Way Jose vs Austin Aries Winner: Austin Aries Yeah, to be honest, when I envisioned Austin Aries in NXT, I definitely envisioned him doing something more...important. Now, I don't have anything against No Way Jose, but I was hoping Aries would be doing things that were more lasting in the grand scheme of things. As for the match, while I do like Jose, having him beat Aries would more than likely hurt Aries more than it would help J...

Just to clarify, the majority of this show was promo packages for Takeover: Brooklyn. Hideo Itami vs Mustafa Ali- I guess Itami's just going to run through everyone who loses in the Cruiserweight Classic for a bit. Ali takes control at the start with a pop-up dropkick, but Itami quickly comes back with a big knee. Ali is able to avoid Itami's offense and goes to the outside, only to get hit with a big baseball slide. Ali is able to hit a swinging neckbreaker on Itai when he tries to get back in the ring for a near fall, following it up with a kick and a neckbreaker for another near fall. Itami gets fired up, clotheslines Ali to the ground twice, strikes him into the corner and hits the running dropkick in the corner before delivering the running knee for the win. In William Regal's office talks about Takeover: Brooklyn when he is interrupted by Billie Kay. She says if Regal wants Brooklyn to be the best it can be then she needs to be on the card. Regal agrees and decid...

Well, another NXT Takeover is in the books (in the pocket, out of sight) and as always, it didn't disappoint. The Takeover shows are always great and frequently have some Match of the Year candidates. Here are my thoughts on the show. Dark Match: Ember Moon def. Peyton Royce If you never seen any of Ember Moon. formerly known as Athena, on the independent scene, I heavily recommend checking out some of her matches. She was one of the best female wrestlers on the indys and I think she could fill the top babyface spot when Bayley & Asuka eventually go up to the main roster. Andrade "Cien" Almas def. Tye Dillinger In his debut on NXT TV, Andrade "Cien" Almas, the former La Sombra, defeated The Perfect 10 Tye Dillinger in rather quick fashion (5:22) with a double knee smash in the corner. Now personally, I think they made the wrong choice having Almas debut against Dillinger. Not because he's bad, but because Dillinger is so over with the crowd ...

Match #1: Andrade "Cien" Almas vs Tye Dillinger Winner: Andrade "Cien" Almas It's finally time for the former La Sombra to debut in NXT. The former IWGP Intercontinental Champion will make his debut against the Perfect 10 Tye Dillinger, who has basically become the punching bag for debuting wrestlers, replacing CJ Parker. Since there's so much hype around him, I fully expect a win for Almas. Match #2: American Alpha (c) vs The Revival-NXT Tag Team Championships Winners: American Alpha In a rematch from Takeover: Dallas, American Alpha defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against the former champions The Revival. Since wrestlers almost never win titles twice, I'm going with American Alpha to win and retain the titles. Match #3: Asuka (c) vs Nia Jax-NXT Women's Championship Winner: Asuka In a match pitting two of NXT's most unstoppable women (unless you're Bayley for one of them), Asuka defends her title against Nia Jax. T...
