RAW vs Nitro #51 (10/7/96)

Welcome back to another edition of RAW vs Nitro. Click here to read the last one if you missed it. So let's get into it, this is RAW vs Nitro #51. RAW Marc Mero with Sable vs "Diesel"- Jim Ross ends up coming out with Diesel and taking his seat at commentary. Diesel quickly takes Mero to the corner and beats him down. Mero fights back with punches before dropkicking Diesel out of the ring. Mero follows up with a plancha to the outside before rolling Diesel back in the ring and hitting a springboard splash for a near fall. Diesel responds by gorilla pressing Mero into the top rope before hitting a running body guillotine. Diesel follows up with a big boot before beating down Mero in the corner. Diesel controls the match as we get a picture-in-picture interview with the fake Razor Ramon, who says he's planning on getting a closer look for this match. Diesel continues to control the match until Mero dodges an elbow drop as fake Razor comes down to the ring. Mero...

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse ...

Worst in the World: Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt-WrestleMania 33

Well, if I'm going to jump back into this blog, it's only fitting that my first post takes a look at arguably the saddest WWE Championship reign of all time. When Bray Wyatt debuted on the main roster back in 2013, he seemed like a breath of fresh air. A talented worker with some great skills on the microphone and an interesting & alluring character and gimmick, Wyatt seemed destined for big things in WWE. And then...John Cena happened. Following Wyatt's feud with Cena, which included two clean losses and a cheap win via demon child distraction , he began one of the most brutal downward spirals in recent memories. From lackluster feuds to terrible booking decisions, Wyatt became almost a parody of himself, cutting seemingly pointless promos before staring up at the lights whenever he faced a serious opponent. Essentially, he was Enzo Amore going through his edgy goth phase. However, things looked up for Wyatt at the tail end of 2016. Him & rival turned new Wy...

My Thoughts on RAW (8/7/17): The (Not-So) Amazing French Canadian

Kicking off RAW is MizTV. Miz says RAW will not begin until Jason Jordan comes down to the ring. He says he's tired of being cheap-shotted on his own show and calls out Jordan again to finish what he started. Instead, Kurt Angle comes out. He says Jordan won't be on MizTV tonight because he has a match against Curtis Axel tonight. However, he says he has a guest that will exceed MizTV standards for him...Brock Lesnar. Lesnar & Paul Heyman come down to the ring and Heyman tries to talk, but Miz pulls the whole "when my hand goes up, your mouth goes shut" routine. Miz says that Lesnar is pretty much guaranteed to lose at SummerSlam and says good riddance to him. Miz asks Heyman if he has something to say, so Heyman picks up the mic and asks Miz if he & Maryse ever role-play, because that's what he's all about. Please don't put that image in my head, Paul. He says that Miz, Bo Dallas, and Curtis Axel are like Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, and Braun St...

My Thoughts on NXT (8/2/17): Aaahh!!! Real Monsters

Johnny Gargano vs Raul Mendoza- Initially, Gargano comes out with his old #DIY song & entrance video, only for it to change into a new song & video. The two lock up to start and trade holds. Gargano takes control of the match with a variety of holds before knocking Mendoza down with a shoulder block. Mendoza kips up and the two go back and forth, trading roll ups before Gargano catches Mendoza with a schoolboy enziguri. Gargano goes to the wristlock, which Mendoza breaks and hits a forearm strike. The two run the ropes before Mendoza hits a running enziguri for a near fall. The two trade blows before Gargano connects with the slingshot spear from the apron. Gargano runs through Mendoza, connecting with forearms and a huge clothesline, only for Mendoza to come back with an enziguri. Mendoza goes to the top rope and tries for the 450 splash, but Gargano avoids it and locks in an over the shoulder crossface called the Gargano Escape for the submission win. Pretty solid match....

RAW vs Nitro #50 (9/30/96)

Welcome to another edition of RAW vs Nitro ! Click here to read the last one if you missed it. Now, I know it's been a while since I've come back to RAW vs Nitro, and I'm sorry for that. I recently got a new job and I'm still trying to adjust to my new schedule. I'm going to try to do a new RAW vs Nitro every week, but anyone who reads this blog frequently knows that the idea of me keeping a deadline is about as realistic as the Ultimate Warrior doing a clean job to Santa Claus, so take that with a grain of salt. So with that out of the way, let's get into it, this is RAW vs Nitro #50. RAW Steve Austin vs Jake Roberts- The two lock up and fight into the corner before the referee breaks them up. They repeat that spot before Austin punches Roberts. Austin goes to the headlock, but Roberts fights out and punches Austin to the ground. Austin rolls out of the ring before getting back in the ring, where the two go back and forth. Roberts catches Austin with ...
