My Thoughts on RAW (8/22/16): (Bad) Luck of the Irish

We kick off the show with the announcement that Finn Balor injured hi shoulder during his match against Seth Rollins last night at SummerSlam. Despite finishing the match, Balor's injury got worse through the day and he is forced to vacate the Universal Championship. Jesus Christ, could not have been worse timing. Mick Foley & Stephanie McMahon bring out Balor to official relinquish the title. Balor says he accomplished the impossible last night, but he had to make a big sacrifice. He thanks the fans and all the wrestlers backstage, including Seth Rollins for giving him the match of his life. Balor says he has to give up the title but reassures that when he comes back he's going to win it back. Balor officially hands the belt off to Foley to end the segment. It's definitely sad that Balor had to give up the title he won after one day, but you know what, he'll go down in history as a former world champion and no one can take that away from him. After Balor walks...

SummerSlam 2016 Predictions

Pre-Show Match #1: Cesaro vs Sheamus-Best of 7 Series Match #1 Winner: Sheamus Yeah, more Cesaro & Sheamus matches! Man, there have not been enough of these yet. Especially in the las month! Yeah, even though these two tend to have good matches together (their match at Night of Champions 2014 was great), the fact that we've seen these two go head-to-head twice in the last month has pretty much drained any interest I have in this match. Since Cesaro won both those matches, I have a feeling Sheamus will pick up the win tomorrow. Especially since Cesaro can just get his win back at some point. Match #2: Sami Zayn & Neville vs The Dudley Boyz Winners: Sami Zayn & Neville Fun fact: It will be one whole year this Wednesday since the Dudley Boyz came back to WWE. One of the most legendary tag teams in history...and they're on the pre-show. Jesus. They square off against the team of Sami Zayn & Neville and they are most definitely losing. Based on the last...

NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 2016 Predictions

Match #1: Ember Moon vs Billie Kay Winner: Ember Moon Looks like Billie Kay is stepping into the role of "Wrestler who jobs to the new incoming indy star" that Tyler Breeze had in NXT and Tye Dillinger currently has. Billie Kay faces the debuting Ember Moon, better known as Athena on the indy scene, and Billie is definitely eating an O-Face tomorrow. I know I said that in the NXT review, but I'm almost 100% certain that's what's happening. Like, 99.99% certain. I'm going with Ember Moon for the win. Match #2: No Way Jose vs Austin Aries Winner: Austin Aries Yeah, to be honest, when I envisioned Austin Aries in NXT, I definitely envisioned him doing something more...important. Now, I don't have anything against No Way Jose, but I was hoping Aries would be doing things that were more lasting in the grand scheme of things. As for the match, while I do like Jose, having him beat Aries would more than likely hurt Aries more than it would help J...

My Thoughts on NXT (8/17/16): Get Hyped

Just to clarify, the majority of this show was promo packages for Takeover: Brooklyn. Hideo Itami vs Mustafa Ali- I guess Itami's just going to run through everyone who loses in the Cruiserweight Classic for a bit. Ali takes control at the start with a pop-up dropkick, but Itami quickly comes back with a big knee. Ali is able to avoid Itami's offense and goes to the outside, only to get hit with a big baseball slide. Ali is able to hit a swinging neckbreaker on Itai when he tries to get back in the ring for a near fall, following it up with a kick and a neckbreaker for another near fall. Itami gets fired up, clotheslines Ali to the ground twice, strikes him into the corner and hits the running dropkick in the corner before delivering the running knee for the win. In William Regal's office talks about Takeover: Brooklyn when he is interrupted by Billie Kay. She says if Regal wants Brooklyn to be the best it can be then she needs to be on the card. Regal agrees and decid...

My Thoughts on SmackDown (8/16/16): Everything is Neon

Before the show, Randy Orton signs the contract for his match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam with Shane McMahon & Daniel Bryan. Incomes Heath Slater with a fruit basket. Amazingly, he tosses Orton an apple and it lands perfectly on his folded arms. He asks for another contract, but Bryan & Shane say no because Slater insulted them last week. Orton then says he has an idea before the opening segment plays We kick off the show with MizTV. Miz is interrupted by Dean Ambrose. Ambrose is then interrupted by Dolph Ziggler, and the two go face to face before being broken up by Miz. Miz rags on Ziggler, saying that he has fizzled out over the years, but says he's on a career resurgence. He wonders what happens if Ziggler loses at SummerSlam, but Ziggler says he's not worried about what happens after and he's only focused on SummerSlam. Ambrose says he doesn't believe Ziggler has turned a corner and he's still the same Ziggler. Ziggler says Ambrose is right and...

Worst in the World: Ivan Koloff vs Paul Jones-Clash of the Champions IV

Dammit, why couldn't this have come up in July? I could have made a Christmas in July joke because this show was Clash of the Champions IV: Season's Beatings. Oh well, it probably wasn't going to be funny anyway. But on to the match, it's Ivan Koloff vs Paul Jones. You might remember Ivan Koloff as the man who ended Bruno Sammartino's almost 8-year long WWWF World Heavyweight Championship title reign and held the belt for a whopping 21 days. You probably don't remember Paul Jones, who is a former wrestler and at the time a manager. Also, this match has an added stipulation that Koloff has to wrestle with one arm tied behind his back. Sounds like shenanigans will ensue. Let's get into it. After taking forever to get his arm tied behind his back, Koloff takes Jones to the ground with one hand and Jones immediately scurries out of the ring. Koloff continues to work circles around Jones despite only having one arm, including ramming Jones' head into eac...

My Thoughts on RAW (8/15/16): The Demon Arrives

Before the show, Seth Rollins calls out "The Demon King" We kick off with Rusev & Lana already in the ring refusing to leave. Rusev says Roman Reigns ruined their wedding celebration, and because of that, RAW is canceled until Reigns comes out and apologizes. Instead, outcomes Mick Foley. He tries to make Rusev & Lana leave, but Rusev refuses and says Foley sucks as a general manager. He criticizes the decision to give Reigns a title match, saying he has done nothing to earn it (he's right, Reigns is 1-3 in his last four matches) and says Reigns has gotten opportunity after opportunity. He demands Stephanie McMahon come out, which she does, only to say Rusev is being disrespectful to Foley. Rusev threatens to call up Bryan & Shane McMahon before Reigns comes out. He makes a "Lana's a whore" joke and says she and Rusev will have ugly babies together. How is this guy a babyface? Reigns says he doesn't want to wait until SummerSlam to figh...
