Worst in the World: The 2015 Royal Rumble Match

(Note: Hey everyone. Sorry this post is a week late. I recently had my wisdom teeth taken out, so between resting from that and school, I didn't have much time to write this. With that said, I hope you enjoy!) For a company that has had no shortage of bad ideas and match types throughout its history, it's hard to argue that WWE didn't knock it out of the park with the Royal Rumble. Debuting in 1988, the Royal Rumble has gone on to become arguably WWE's most popular match type and is easily one of the most exciting stipulations in wrestling history. Whether it be the high-stakes nature of the match, the interesting combinations the match creates, or the one-off returns of legends of the past, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't like the Royal Rumble. The concept is so great that even a bad choice of the winner has a hard time souring the match itself. That being said, WWE doesn't have a perfect track record with the Royal Rumble, and there have ...

Worst in the World: Hornswoggle vs Chavo Guerrero-WWE Monday Night Raw (7/20/2009)

Special thanks to camilo jaramillo for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below. Throughout the history of wrestling, there has been no shortage of feuds & storylines that hurt the wrestlers involved rather the help them. Bad creative is very much a thing, and even a good booker can spit out a bad idea every now and then. However, what's less common than that is writing that is so bad and so harmful, it destroys a wrestler's career in the company. In WWE, there are two wrestlers whose careers got tanked by one storyline that have become the go-to names to bring up on the topic; Diamond Dallas Page after he was decimated throughout his feud with the Undertaker in 2001, and Zack Ryder after he got roped into being Kane's punching bag in the "Embrace the Hate" feud between him & John Cena. However, if there's one wrestler whose stock got dropped significantly thanks to one bad f...

Worst in the World: The Barbed Wire Christmas Tree Match-TNA iMPACT (12/20/2007)

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all had a fun & safe holiday season. And because it's the merriest day of the year, I thought it was only fitting to take a look at a Christmas-themed match for this edition of the Worst in the World. So I decided to take a trip back to TNA's 2007 Christmas episode. The whole episode is a ton of silly, Yuletide fun with every match on the show being Christmas-themed, all while Eric Young throws an episode-long Christmas party. There's one match on the show, however, that stands out for just how ridiculous it ends up being. Officially, it's called the "Silent Night, Bloody Night" match, but this match is probably better known as the "Barbed Wire Christmas Tree" match (so much so that IMPACT themselves uploaded the whole match on YouTube as the Barbed Wire Christmas Tree match ) for its inclusion of a Christmas Tree made out of barbed wire as a weapon...that was also hanging in the middle of the ring for some ...

Worst in the World: Triple H vs Kevin Nash-TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs 2011

(Special thanks to camilo jaramillo for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) If were to go back to July of 2011, right at the beginning of WWE's turn at the Summer of Punk, and ask fans of the WWE what they predicted the angle would bring to the company, I can almost guarantee that not a single person would say "Kevin Nash feuding with CM Punk." Sure, Nash had just come back to the company after just over six years in TNA, appearing in the 2011 Royal Rumble as Diesel, but seeing former stars make surprise appearances in the Rumble isn't uncommon. And considering Nash spent under three minutes in the match, and that he'd only wrestled 106 matches in those six years Nash was away from WWE (just over 15 matches per year) according to Cagematch.net, and that he has a well-documented history of injuries, it seemed like seeing Big Kev play a major part in a major storyline was unlikely, ...
