Worst in the World: CM Punk vs Ryback-A Trilogy of Terror

In terms of match quality from American wrestlers throughout the 2000s, CM Punk has one of the stronger resumes. Whether it be his standout trilogies with Samoa Joe and Chris Hero, his pair of matches with John Cena, or his marquee bouts with guys like Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker, Punk tends to put on a good show. Even his worst-rated matches tend to fall more in the category of "unremarkable." However, if there's one noticeable blemish in the career of Punk, it's his pay-per-view trilogy with Ryback. Back in 2012, Punk was asked who his least favorite opponent was, and he answered Elijah Burke . Just based on everything Punk has said about him after he left WWE in 2014, I can only imagine Ryback has, at the very least, entered the conversation for his least favorite opponent in the years since. ...

Worst in the World: John Cena vs The Miz: A Feud That Never Worked

While it was happening, a frequent topic of discussion in the Internet wrestling community was WWE's frequent booking of John Cena vs Randy Orton. Whether it be their first initial pay-per-view trilogy in 2007 and 2008, their lengthy feud in 2009, or their 2013-14 pair of matches, WWE would go back to Orton-Cena well so often it became a running joke online . It definitely felt like the company wanted so badly to have a long-running feud between the two biggest homegrown stars of the era, not unlike what they had with Steve Austin and The Rock in the 90s and early 2000s. Hell, they even did the exact same "lock eyes in opposite corners during the Royal Rumble" spot 10 years after Austin and Rock did it. But for all the criticism that repetitive booking got, the silver lining was that the two could (with some exceptions) put on solid matches together. The same can't be s...
