Worst in the World: Daffney vs Miss Hancock-Bash at the Beach 2000

Special thanks to Otter Empire for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.

I've said it before that women's wrestling in the WWF during the Attitude Era was about as close to the bottom of the barrel as you can get. The bottom of the barrel would be women's wrestling in WCW, especially during the dying years of the company. The WWF's women's matches might have been transparent excuses to put scantily clad women on TV to hit the 13-17 demographics, but at least there was some semblance of an actual division with workers like Jacqueline & Ivory. WCW didn't even bother with that. No actual women's division, no titles to fight for whatsoever, and barely any in-ring training. Midnight, who appeared in WCW throughout 1999 and 2000, started training in September 1999 and debuted on TV in November that same year, while Molly Holly, who wrestled in WCW as Miss Madness & Mona, described the training as "focused on push-ups, running, sit-ups, squats, and people yelling at you." Not the most thorough training if you're looking to be a professional wrestler. This week's entry in the Worst in the World looks at Daffney vs Miss Hancock (Stacy Keibler with a dick joke for a name that's so lazy you'd think I wrote it) from Bash at the Beach 2000 in a Wedding Gown match (essentially an Evening Gown match.) Both were products of the WCW Power Plant, and while Daffney would later get further training after WCW folded, this was still years before that. This match came about after Hancock stole Daffney's fiancee David Flair away from her. They are fighting...over David Flair. The perks of being Ric's son. Let's get into this.

Hancock comes out with David Flair first wearing what is essentially a sexy Halloween costume version of a wedding dress.

Flair comes down in a tuxedo with hair clippers. We also having a wedding cake at ringside, which prompts Scott Hudson to spoil the obvious outcome by saying "we know what happens when that goes down on a pro wrestling show." Flair gets in the ring and starts kissing up Hancock's leg, getting dangerously close to preventing me from writing about it without getting some kind of guideline strike. I'm not getting a content violation because of David Flair, I refuse. Daffney comes out in a character-appropriate black wedding dress as Hancock and Flair won't stop making out in the ring. Daffney breaks it up by low blowing Flair, which kicks off the match for some reason. Daffney throws Hancock to the ground and tosses her veil off before slamming her into the mat. Flair stops her by grabbing Daffney holding her in place while Hancock stomps away at her.

Hancock follows up with a not great handspring back elbow in the corner before taunting Daffney by shaking her ass in front of her. Daffney responds by throwing Hancock to the ground before giving her two stunted snapmares, which Hancock does bump well for, to be far. Daffney screams at Hancock, who gives her an up-kick to the gut before the two try to throw each other into the cake. When Daffney gets the advantage, Flair comes in to break it up. Flair holds Daffney back while the referee Slick Johnson (the one who wore shorts in TNA) holds Hancock back, so both women slap them before Hancock low blows Johnson and rips off his pants, revealing he's made the bold decision to tuck is referee shirt all the way into this underwear.

Daffney responds by doing the same to Flair before giving him a ball tap before throwing Hancock head first in his penis. Mark Madden makes the call "THEY'RE NOT EVEN MARRIED YET!" Mark Madden has one funny line every show he's on, it's just surrounded by 99 awful ones.

Hancock "attempts" to rip off Daffney's dress, and by "attempts" I mean she grabs the hem and just kind of shakes it around a bit. Daffney chases Hancock around the ring until Flair grabs her again and tries to shave her with the hair clippers. This brings out Crowbar to make the save, who gives Flair a back suplex followed by a chop. It's crazy how much better the match gets when someone with even just a little bit of experience shows up. Crowbar sees everyone's lost their pants already, so Crowbar takes his off, takes a back bump for no reason, chops Flair some more, and gives him a front suplex. Crowbar drags Flair to the corner with his jeans and tells Daffney to shave him with the clippers. This prompts Hancock to grab the mic. She says she knows what everyone came here to see and to hit her music, prompting her to rip off her skirt and dance. Even though she still has her top on, Johnson calls for the bell and gives the win to Daffney.

Johnson & Crowbar take the opportunity to sit and watch as Hancock starts to take off her top. Daffney breaks up the fun* and shoves cake in Hancock's face. Hancock, Daffney, Flair, and Crowbar all throw cake at each other before Flair & Hancock flee to the back. This cake fight creates a mess that WCW was so unprepared for that it takes them (no joke) THREE WHOLE MINUTES to clean up. Actually, they don't even manage that, because they just flip the mats over. What a company.

The Verdict

I get it, it's cool to see hot women without their clothes on, but as a wrestling match, this just isn't really...anything. Hancock is better than I anticipated, and she really bumped for Daffney here, but this is still not worth watching. Very little wrestling to speak of, a confusing finish, and a pointless and interesting food fight to end it. I'd actually argue the best part of this match was Crowbar running in for a minute. He's not even super experienced at this point, but he's still light years better and more entertaining than everyone in this match. I'd skip it.

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: What is the Worst Wrestling Match of All Time?

Note: This series is based off a YouTube series " The Search for the Worst " by I Hate Everything, where he reviews every movie on IMDB's Bottom 100. It's a great, funny series and I'd recommend checking it out. Have you ever just thought to yourself "What is the worst match of all time?"? I don't mean something like a boring John Cena-Randy Orton match, I mean a match where the wrestlers have zero chemistry, little wrestling ability, or literally no idea what they are actually doing. I've thought about this for a while, and I've decided to finally figure it out. So I'm going to watch any match that is: a) A winner of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for the Worst Worked Match of the Year. or:  b) Listed on the 100 worst rated wrestling matches of all time on the Internet Wrestling Database .   (Note: Some matches appear on awards that aren't on the list.) There are 115 (EDIT: Now 99)  matches on here. I pu

Combining high-flying, death-defying wrestling with heavily stylized, cinematic segments that more closely resembled an AMC show than what you'd see on Monday Night Raw, Lucha Underground was a hit. Along with just being a unique, enjoyable wrestling experience, the show also provided a launching pad for several of the wrestlers, whether they be American wrestlers getting their biggest exposure to date in Ricochet (Prince Puma) and Jeff Cobb (Matanza Cueto), ex-WWE superstar John Morrison finding new life as Johnny Mundo, or luchadors like Pentagon Jr. and Fenix branching out into the United States. The latter is the case for Sexy Star. Debuting in 2006, Sexy Star would spend the first eight years of her career wrestl
