My Thoughts on NXT (10/19/16): (Roddy) Strong Style Has Arrived

Rich Swann & No Way Jose vs Drew Gulak & Tony Nese- Swann & Gulak kick off by exchanging shoulder blocks before Swann dropkicks Gulak. Jose & Nese tag in and Jose hits a snapmare and a flapjack for a one count. Nese leapfrogs Jose and dodges a punch before kicking Jose to the ground. Jose hits a delayed suplex on Nese before tagging in Swann. Jose slams Nese before Swann hits an assisted splash for a near fall. Nese throws Swann into the ropes and to the outside, where Nese superkicks Swann before the commercial break. We come back to Gulak working over Swann with a headlock. After a double clothesline spot, Jose gets the hot tag and runs wild, hitting clothesline that turns Nese inside out for a nearfall. The heels go for a double suplex, but Jose fights out and hits a pop-up knockout punch, but Nese makes the save. Swann takes Nese out with a somersault plancha on the outside as Jose hits the cobra clutch slam on Gulak for the win. Fine little match. Post-matc...

Worst in the World: The Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match-WrestleMania 13

It's back to multi-tag team action I go. Recently, I took a look at the 15-tag team battle royal that opened WrestleMania XIV, and that was a clusterf*ck. This time, thankfully, there's only four teams to focus on, so that's a plus. It's The Headbangers Mosh & Thrasher vs The New Blackjacks (Barry) Windham & Bradshaw (JBL) vs Henry & Phineas Godwinn with Hillbilly Jim in their corner vs Doug Furnas & Phil Lafon in an elimination fatal 4-way tag match to determine the #1 Contenders for the Tag Team Championships. The Headbangers AND JBL in the same match? That just sounds like a winning combination, doesn't it? Let's get into this. Kick off with a brawl, ending with Bradshaw & Henry Godwinn in the ring. Godwinn floors Bradshaw with a clothesline before Thrasher tags in to take a big boot from Bradshaw. Bradshaw hits a pumphandle slam and tags in Phineas Godwinn. Phineas hits a backbody drop on Thrasher before tagging in Mosh. Since they...

Worst in the World: Vampiro vs The KISS Demon-Bash at the Beach 2000

Ladies & gentlemen, let me tell you a story about the KISS Demon. Back in 2000, WCW struck a deal with one of the most overrated bands in history, KISS. The deal was to create a KISS-themed wrestler modeled after Gene Simmons with a GUARANTEED MAIN EVENT. After going back and forth on who would play the character, unlucky WCW Power Plant student Dale Torborg dawned the paint after Brian Adams rejected the gimmick after using it twice. The KISS Demon was introduced during a KISS concert live on Nitro, which is one of the lowest rated segments in Nitro history. The character was pretty much dead on arrival, and his "main event" ended up being a "Special Main Event" halfway through SuperBrawl against the Wall. Today, I take a look at the Demon's match at the infamous Bash at the Beach 2000. He faces Vampiro in a "Graveyard match." How the hell does Vince Russo come up with this stuff? Let's just get into it. So the Demon wanders around a grav...

Worst in the World: Tag Team Battle Royal-WrestleMania XIV

Battle royals are usually great. This is not. Today, I take a look at the 15-team battle royal that opened WrestleMania XIV to determine the #1 contenders to the WWF Tag Team Championships. The teams are: The Rock 'n' Roll Express, Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson The Headbangers, Mosh & Thrasher The Quebecers, Pierre Ouellet & Jacques Rougeau All four members of the Nation of Domination, with Faarooq & Kama Mustafa as one team and Mark Henry & D'Lo Brown as another. Flash Funk & MY BOY! Steve Blackman All four members of Los Boricaus, with Savio Vega & Miguel Perez Jr. as one team and Jose Estrada Jr. & Jesus Castillo Jr. as another The Disciples of Apocolypse's 8-Ball & Skull Henry & Phineas Godwinn The New Midnight Express, Bombastic Bob (Bob Holly) & Bodacious Bart (Bart Gunn) with Jim Cornette Too Much (the future Too Cool), Scott Taylor & Brian Christopher (Scotty 2 Hotty & Grandmaster Sexay) The Trut...

My Thoughts on NXT (10/13/16): Definition of Sanity

Bobby Roode & Tye Dillinger vs Sanity- It's Sanity's debut, as four people in masks walk down to the ring. Two of them unmask, revealing themselves to be Sawyer Fulton & Alexander Wolfe, who have both made appearances in NXT before. Fulton & Wolfe quickly rush Dillinger to start the match. Roode starts to take off his robe and get in the fight but opts not to and leaves Dillinger to the wolves (that's half a pun right there.) Wolfe & Fulton hit a suplex/powerslam combo for the squash victory. After the match, the other two masked members enter the ring. The smaller member of the group pounces on Dillinger before being pulled off by Fulton and unmasking, revealing her to be Nikki Cross. She jumps on Dillinger again before the last masked man pulls her off and hits a wheelbarrow German suplex into a neckbreaker on Dillinger. The man unmasks...it's ERIC YOUNG! He's back in NXT. Billie Kay & Peyton Royce get interviewed. They laugh at the menti...

Worst in the World: Savio Vega vs Crush vs Faarooq-Ground Zero: In Your House

GANG WARZ!...again. Yes, I get to come back to WWE's failed attempt at a multi-stable feud from back in 1997. Previously, I took a look at a match where The Truth Commission & The D.O.A stank up Survivor Series 1997 . This time, we go back three months earlier to Ground Zero: In Your House, before the Truth Commission were even around, where the Nation of Domination's Faarooq, Los Boricuas' Savio Vega, and the Disciples of Apocolypse's Crush face off in a triple threat match. Fun fact, this is the opening sentence describing this match on Wikipedia: "The third match of the night was a Triple Threat match pitting Savio Vega (representing Los Boricuas), Faarooq (representing Nation of Domination) and Crush (representing Disciples of Apocalypse) against each other, in a match that featured the worst spinning neckbreaker in professional wrestling history." This should be fun. Let's get right into it. Crush & Vega immediately start fighting as ...

My Thoughts on SmackDown (10/11/16): ELLSWORTH WINS!

We kick off the show with the new Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler says he put it all the line to win the title at No Mercy and that he didn't know if this was the last time he would ever walk down the aisle to the ring. He says he had to do it, but now he knows that WWE is where he belonged and he knew he was walking out as Intercontinental Champion. Outcomes the Miz & Maryse in all black, staying silent as the mourn the death of the Intercontinental Championship. Miz says he brought prestige back to the title, and Ziggler's victory killed it. Miz says this isn't the end of the story, it's just Act II. Miz says he's the hero and Ziggler is just temporary. He says every story ends with the hero getting the gold and the girl, and he's already got the girl, so he wants his gold back. Ziggler mocks Miz with the clip of him making a sad face at No Mercy, and Miz defends it by saying he made that face because he saw everything he worked for...
