My Thoughts on RAW (7/10/17): After Balls of Fire

  • We kick off the show with Big Cass. He mockingly asks the crowd "How you doin'?" and says he couldn't feel any better after what he did to Enzo Amore. He says he got Enzo out of his life forever last night and that everyone on the RAW roster should take note of what he did to Enzo last night because that's what happens if people mess with him. He tells the crowd not hop on his bandwagon now and says that everyone who's ever doubted him will eat their words when he wins the Universal Championship one day. He says nobody can touch him, nobody is on his level, and nobody is bigger than him. Obviously, this leads to the Big Show coming out. Show headbutts Cass before taking Cass down to the mat. Big Show beats down Cass in the corner before Cass rolls out of the ring.
  • Elias Samson vs Finn Balor-Before the match, Elias Samson sings a song about Finn Balor, which is interrupted by Balor himself. Samson starts off the match with a bodyslam, which Balor responds to with strikes and a headlock. Samson fights out and hits a back elbow, but Balor counters a sunset flip and hits a basement dropkick. The two go back and forth before Balor kicks Samson down and goes for the Coup de Grace. Samson rolls out of the ring before Balor jumps before the commercial break. We come back to Samson suplexing Balor for a near fall. Samson controls the match until Balor hits a few forearms and a basement dropkick. Balor chops Samson around the ring before Samson goes to the top rope, only to get kicked down to the outside by Balor. Balor follows up with a wrecking ball dropkick and goes for the running punt on the apron, but Samson catches Balor's foot and yanks him down face first onto the mat. Back in the ring, Samson applies a Fujiwara armbar, but Balor breaks the hold by getting to the ropes. Samson tries to reapply the hold, but Balor counters it and hits a double stomp. Samson rolls up Balor for a near fall before slamming Balor down by his arm for another near fall. Balor comes back with a Pele kick and hits the Sling Blade before dropkicking Samson into the corner. Balor goes to the top rope and hits the Coup de Grace for the three and the win. Pretty decent match.
  • The Hardy Boyz come out for a promo. Jeff says they were one second away from regaining the RAW Tag Team Championships and that all the other tag teams might think they should just fade away and classify themselves as obsolete. I popped for that. Matt says they aren't going anywhere before Gallows & Anderson come out. Anderson says the Hardy aren't who they used to be and Gallows tells the Hardys to get out of their ring. Matt says they might be a little...wait for it...broken...but they'll take them on right now.
  • The Hardy Boyz vs Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson-Matt Hardy & Karl Anderson start off with Matt taking control and tagging in Jeff for a double back suplex. Gallows runs in, only to take Poetry in Motion before the commercial break. We come back to Gallows clotheslining Jeff Hardy for a near fall. Gallows & Anderson hit the Boot of Doom, but Matt breaks up the fall. Jeff is able to hit a seated jawbreaker on Anderson before tagging in Matt, who rams Anderson's head into the turnbuckles. Matt follows up with a clothesline and goes for a bulldog, but Anderson blocks it, only for Hardy to hit the Side Effect. Hardy follows up with an elbow drop and goes for the Twist of Fate, but Anderson blocks it before Gallows kicks Hardy in the back of the head. Anderson follows up with a single leg dropkick before he & Gallows hit the Magic Killer for the three and the win. Nothing really worth watching. After the match, the Revival come out and attack the Hardy Boyz, giving Matt a diving knee strike from Dash Wilder before giving Jeff a Shatter Machine.
  • It's time for the "Mizzies" presented by the Miz on MizTV. The first award goes to both Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel for Best Supporting Actor as the Miztourage at Great Balls of Fire. Dallas thanks Miz for changing his life before Axel says that thanks to Miz, he looks like a million bucks, feels like a million bucks, and will make a million bucks. The next award goes to Maryse for being the most beautiful, gorgeous, sexy leading lady in WWE. Maryse thanks the Miz before Miz announces the last Mizzie award; the Greatest Man in WWE. Miz reads the envelope and the winner is...Dean Ambrose. Just kidding, it's the Miz. Miz says he speaks the truth whenever he speaks. He says he's the only person who backed up what they said at Great Balls of Fire before saying Ambrose is the toughest man in WWE, but since he beat him he is the toughest man in WWE. This brings out Ambrose, who quickly takes Miz down to the crowd. However, the numbers game gets to him. The Miztourage beats down Ambrose before Seth Rollins comes down to make the save, beating up Bo Dallas with a table in the process.
  • After a commercial break, Ambrose questions why Rollins helped him. Rollins says he's not going to let Miz run his mouth about him, but Ambrose says he doesn't trust him and that there won't be a Shield reunion.
Why you gotta be like that, WWE?
  • Sasha Banks & Bayley vs Nia Jax & Alexa Bliss-Bliss & Banks start, only for Bliss to quickly tag in Nia. Nia shoves Sasha into her corner, so Bayley tags in as Sasha goes right after Bliss. Chaos ensues before Bayley hits an elbow drop across the back of Nia's head before the commercial break. We come back to Sasha hitting a double knee strike in the corner on Bliss for a near fall. Bayley tags in for a bulldog for a near fall before Bliss crawls away and tags in Nia. Bayley succeeds in knocking Nia off her feet before hitting a stunner through the ropes. Bliss distracts Bayley, so Bayley punches her off the apron, only for Nia to throw Bayley into the corner. Nia splashes Bayley in the corner before throwing her across the ring and putting her in the cobra clutch. The heels get the heat on Bayley before Bliss hits Twisted Bliss on Bayley. Sasha breaks up the fall, only to be thrown out of the ring by Nia. Nia tries to run into her against the barricade, but Sasha moves just in time. Meanwhile, Bayley rolls up Bliss for the three and the win. Fine match, nothing special.
  • Goldust did another Shattered Dreams production where he says he'll be making the Shattered Truth Part 2.
  • R-Truth vs Goldust-You know what's great? Hearing Goldust's theme and not hearing R-Truth rapping right after it. Goldust cheap shots Truth to start before the two fight into the corner. Truth hits a corner splash followed by a powerslam. Truth continues to control the match until Goldust gets him in the Tree of Woe and stomps him. Goldust beats down Truth before chopping him in the corner. Goldust controls the match until Truth counters the ten punches in the corner with a powerbomb. Truth fires up and makes a comeback with a spinning elbow, but Goldust dodges the scissor kick and takes out Truth's knee with a chop block. Goldust continues to go after Truth's knee until Truth boots him out of the ring. When Goldust gets back in the ring, Truth connects with a leg lariat followed by the scissor kick, but Goldust kicks out. Truth goes for a suplex, but Goldust lands on his feet and kicks Truth's knee. Goldust throws Truth into the ring post before hitting the Final Cut for the three and the win. Boring match that went on too long.
  • Kurt Angle comes out to the ring. He says Great Balls of Fire was a huge success before bringing our Brock Lesnar. He congratulates Lesnar on his win last night after saying Lesnar keeps getting better and better. The two shake hands before Angle proposes who Lesnar will defend the Universal Championship against next. Paul Heyman says they won't negotiate in public before Roman Reigns comes out. I guess the petition didn't work. Angle says Reigns has a lot of nerve coming out to the ring after what he did last night. Reigns says they did worse stuff in the Attitude Era, but Angle says that was a different time. Reigns says he took care of Braun Strowman because Angle couldn't and Lesnar was never around to. Reigns says he wants Lesnar at SummerSlam, but Lesnar literally says Reigns doesn't deserve sh*t. Samoa Joe comes out next and says the next time he & Lesnar face off, he'll knock him out. He says Lesnar didn't beat him, he escaped him and says that Reigns has never beaten him. Heyman says that Joe will never get another title shot against Lesnar, but Joe says Heyman is trying to protect Lesnar from him because he knows Joe can beat Lesnar. Reigns says that Joe lost last night, so Joe points out that Reigns did as well. Angle intervenes and says that next week, Reigns & Joe will face off in a #1 contenders match, with the winner facing Lesnar at SummerSlam for the Universal Championship. So Roman Reigns not only loses a match, but then acts like a sore loser and pretty much attempts to murder Braun Strowman, and his punishment is getting a title shot. What the f*ck. WWE is completely insane if they think Roman Reigns is the babyface now. How attempting to kill someone with an ambulance because they lost a match because of their own clumsiness doesn't scream "HEEL" I don't know what does.
  • Backstage, Kurt Angle & Corey Graves each receive more texts. He says he can't let whatever the text says comes, but that he has to come out with it next week. He says he might lose his job & family over this, but Graves says he won't lose everything because people respect him.
  • Akira Tozwaw & Cedric Alexander with Titus O'Neil vs Noam Dar & Neville with Alicia Fox-Alexander & Dar start off with Alexander hitting a huge back elbow. Alexander strikes away at Dar before Dar rolls out of the ring. Back in the ring, Alexander tags in Tozawa for a basement dropkick for a near fall. Tozawa stomps away at Dar in the corner before Dar kicks Tozawa's leg and tags in Neville. Tozawa quickly comes back with a hurricanrana and a senton, but Neville is able to throw him face first into the turnbuckle. Neville throws Tozawa into his corner and distracts the referee, allowing Dar to beat down Tozawa before the commercial break. We come back to Neville working over Tozawa. The heels get the heat until Tozawa connects with the shining wizard on Neville. Alexander gets the hot tag and hits a springboard clothesline followed by a handspring roundhouse kick. Alexander goes to the top rope, but a distraction by Dar allows Neville to crotch him on the top rope. Neville goes for a superplex, but blocks it and crotches Neville on the top rope. Tozawa tags in before Alexander takes out Dar with a suicide dive. Tozawa gets revenge for last night and kicks the rope Neville is crotched on before hitting the senton bomb for the three and the win. Pretty solid match.
  • Charly Caruso interviews Seth Rollins. He says he didn't come out earlier tonight to save Ambrose, he did it to shut up the Miz. He says Bray Wyatt is still a fraud & a coward and tonight he'll prove he can't hang with Seth Rollins. Right after, Bray Wyatt cuts a 2spooky4me dark room promo.
  • Bray Wyatt vs Seth Rollins-The two lock up to start before Wyatt forces Rollins into the corner. Rollins fights back, beating down Wyatt in the corner before Wyatt turns the tables, beating down Rollins until Rollins superkicks him for a near fall. Wyatt rolls out of the ring but hits a cross body block when he gets back in. Wyatt goes for a quick Sister Abigail, but Rollins blocks it and sends Wyatt out of the ring. Rollins goes for a suicide dive, but Wyatt blocks it, only for Rollins to dodge a charging Wyatt and send him into the ring post. Back in the ring, Rollins works over Wyatt's hand, even leaving the ring to smash it into the ring steps. Back in the ring, Rollins dives off the top rope, only for Wyatt to catch him with an Uranage before the commercial break. We come back to Wyatt working over Rollins. Wyatt controls the match until Rollins blocks a superplex. The two trade blows on the mat before Rollins hits an enziguri. Rollins kicks Wyatt in the gut before hitting the Sling Blade. Wyatt rolls out of the ring, putting him in position for a suicide dive by Rollins. Back in the ring, Rollins hits a springboard clothesline before hitting a Blockbuster for a near fall. Rollins goes for a tornado DDT, but Wyatt blocks it, only for Rollins to quickly follow up with a Falcon Arrow for a near fall. The two block each other's finishers before Rollins rolls up Wyatt for a near fall. Rollins follows up with a superkick before going for the Rain-Trigger, but Wyatt blocks it with a headbutt. Wyatt capitalizes and hits Sister Abigail, planting Rollins upright for the three and the win. Pretty decent match. After the match, Wyatt teleports out of the ring as Miz and the Miztourage come out of the crowd. The three surround the ring before pouncing on Rollins until Dean Ambrose runs down with a chair. Ambrose sends Dallas & Axel running before smashing the chair over Miz's back. The Miztourage pulls Miz out of the ring as Ambrose stands tall.
  • We close the show with Kurt Angle on the phone. He tells whoever he's talking to that they need to talk about what's been happening before telling them he loves them.

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: What is the Worst Wrestling Match of All Time?

Note: This series is based off a YouTube series " The Search for the Worst " by I Hate Everything, where he reviews every movie on IMDB's Bottom 100. It's a great, funny series and I'd recommend checking it out. Have you ever just thought to yourself "What is the worst match of all time?"? I don't mean something like a boring John Cena-Randy Orton match, I mean a match where the wrestlers have zero chemistry, little wrestling ability, or literally no idea what they are actually doing. I've thought about this for a while, and I've decided to finally figure it out. So I'm going to watch any match that is: a) A winner of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for the Worst Worked Match of the Year. or:  b) Listed on the 100 worst rated wrestling matches of all time on the Internet Wrestling Database .   (Note: Some matches appear on awards that aren't on the list.) There are 115 (EDIT: Now 99)  matches on here. I pu

Combining high-flying, death-defying wrestling with heavily stylized, cinematic segments that more closely resembled an AMC show than what you'd see on Monday Night Raw, Lucha Underground was a hit. Along with just being a unique, enjoyable wrestling experience, the show also provided a launching pad for several of the wrestlers, whether they be American wrestlers getting their biggest exposure to date in Ricochet (Prince Puma) and Jeff Cobb (Matanza Cueto), ex-WWE superstar John Morrison finding new life as Johnny Mundo, or luchadors like Pentagon Jr. and Fenix branching out into the United States. The latter is the case for Sexy Star. Debuting in 2006, Sexy Star would spend the first eight years of her career wrestl
