Last week, Stone Cold threatened a door and Roddy Piper's love song proved how much he wants to fight Hulk Hogan. I'm not really sure how that worked either, but with that out of the way, this is RAW vs Nitro #57... But first! A quick recap of Survivor Series, which happened the night before this episode of RAW. On the pre-show, the team of Aldo Montoya, Bart Gunn, Bob Holly, and Jesse James beat the team of Billy Gunn, Justin Bradshaw, Salvatore Sincere, and the Sultan in a Survivor Series elimination match. Bart Gunn was the sole survivor, last eliminating his brother Billy. The team of the Godwinns, Doug Furnas, and Phil LaFon beat the team of Owen Hart, the British Bulldog, and the New Rockers in a Survivor Series elimination match. TNA's One Night Only events have always confused me. The idea of taping a pay-per-view to air later doesn't make a lot of sense to me, especially when you're doing it months in advance. Also, having a bunch of matches with no build and zero stakes is just about as unenticing to spend money on as it gets. This was sort of corrected by doing a live One Night Only show once a year, but the lackluster matches were still present. All but three of the nine matches on the 2016 edition's card received a star or less from Dave Meltzer, with the worst-rated of them being an 8-Knockout Gauntlet match with a Knockouts Championship match on the line. If you've never seen a TNA gauntlet match, it's not like WWE's version. It's kind of like a Royal Rumble, only the final two have a singles match instead of trying to throw eachother over to the top rope. So with that out of the way, let's get into this. Last time, Brian Pillman almost murdered Stone Cold Steve Austin...not really sure how that can be topped. So now, let's get into it, this is RAW vs Nitro #56! RAW Owen Hart & The British Bulldog (c) with Clarence Mason vs Sycho Sid & Shawn Michaels with Jose Lothario-WWF Tag Team Championships RAW opens with the tag team championship match that was set up two weeks ago. Before the match actually starts, we get a picture in picture promo from Stone Cold Steve Austin. He says he won't apologize for what happened last week and says that after he's done with Bob Holly, he'll go find Bret Hart and put him in the Sharpshooter. As for this match, it's a really good opener for the show. Welcome to another classic pay-per-view review. Last time, I took a look at WrestleMania II , a show that featured lots of bad wrestling, bad commentating, and even some bad boxing. This time, I fast forward a year to WrestleMania III, the show that saw over 93,000 people (allegedly) pack into the Pontiac Silverdome to see Hulk Hogan defend the WWF Championship against the undefeated Andre the Giant. Along with that, WrestleMania III saw the "retirement match" of Roddy Piper, one of the greatest matches of all time, and most importantly...tiny entrance rings. Oh yeah. Let's get right into it, this is WrestleMania III. We kick off the show with Vince McMahon welcoming us to WrestleMania III, live from the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. He then throws to Aretha Franklin, who sings "America the Beautiful." We then go up to our commentators for the night Gorilla Monsoon & Jesse Ventura along with celebrity guests Mary Hart & Bob Uecker. ...
