Worst in the World: World War 3: WCW's Most Unwatchable Match Type (Part 1: 1995-1996)

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting these matches. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.)

As I said before, every wrestling company wants to have its own Royal Rumble. Sometimes that means doing a timed battle royal with minimal or no rules changes. Sometimes that means creating their own signature battle royal match. I've already looked at WCW's attempt at a Royal Rumble with their Countdown to Armageddon match, so now let's move over to their attempt at the latter; World War 3. Looking to find an annual November pay-per-view that had been vacant since Starrcade moved to December in 1988, WCW trotted out World War 3 in 1995, with the titular match acting as the headline attraction. The World War 3 match was a three-ring battle royal, with a whopping 60 participants in the match. You thought the 2011 Royal Rumble and the Greatest Royal Rumble were bloated with 40 and 50 participants, respectively? Wait until you get a load of this.
On paper, a match where the entire roster is fighting for the same prize is enticing. In practice, it's a mess to watch, with so much happening on screen at once it's pretty much impossible to pay attention to everything. To add on to it, unlike the Royal Rumble, this match uses standard battle royal rules, so all 60 men are wrestling at once. A 60-Man Royal Rumble would also be way too much, but having all 60 people wrestling at once makes this a struggle to watch. The best way I've heard it described was by Jay Hunter from OSW Review, comparing it to watching a soccer/football game where there are three balls going at the same time. It's rough. World War 3 obviously didn't catch on the same way the Royal Rumble did, and after 1998, WCW shelved World War 3 for good. But that's still four years where we got a World War 3 match, and over the next two weeks, I'll be taking a look at them.

1995

We start this story at the best place to start any story...the beginning. The inaugural World War 3 in 1995 is the only time a WCW World Heavyweight Championship match wasn't on the line, as the winner instead won the vacant title itself. The title had been vacated by The Giant (The Big Show) eight days after Halloween Havoc that year, following the clusterfuck of a main event. Hulk Hogan's manager Jimmy Hart turned on him, attacking both the referee & Hogan and joining the Dungeon of Doom. Despite the match ending in a disqualification, The Giant still won the title, as Hart had sneakily added a stipulation that Hogan would still lose the title if he got disqualified. WCW would then strip The Giant of the title, putting it up for grabs in the main event of World War 3. Let's get into this.
The participants in the match enter as followed:
  • Arn Anderson
  • Alex Wright
  • Brian Knobbs
  • Ricky Santana of the Barrio Brothers (Dave Penzer calls him "Barrio Brother Ricky")
  • Squire David Taylor
  • Scott Armstrong
  • Sting
  • Joey Maggs
  • Pez Whatley
  • Disco Inferno
  • Meng
  • One-half of the WCW Tag Team Champions Stevie Ray
  • Mark Starr
  • Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker
  • Lt. James Earl Wright (He & Parker shove each other in the aisle way even though they're in a tag team. Also, Penzer only calls him "Lt. James Earl" for some reason)
  • Lex Luger
  • Eddie Guerrero
  • Cobra (the future nWo Sting)
  • The Giant
  • Paul Orndorff
  • Chris Kanyon
  • "Hardwork" Bobby Walker
  • Earl Robert Eaton (Bobby Eaton in his Blue Bloods persona)
  • Chris Benoit
  • Randy Savage
  • Marcus Bagwell (The future Buff)
  • The YETAY!...who is dressed as a ninja:
He hasn't become the Super Giant Ninja yet, he still gets announced as The Yeti, he's just...dressed like that now.
  • Kurasawa (Manabu Nakanishi)
  • Hugh Morrus (Bill DeMott)
  • The Zodiac (Brutus Beefcake)
  • V.K. Wallstreet (Mike Rotunda/I.R.S.)
  • Diamond Dallas Page
  • Scott Norton
  • Brian Pillman
  • Sgt. Craig Pittman
  • The One Man Gang
  • Super Assassin #2 (The Warlord under a mask. I have no idea why they sent him out before Super Assassin #1)
  • Mr. JL (Jerry Lynn under a mask)
  • Bunkhouse Buck
  • United States Champion Kensuke Sasaki
  • Mike Winner
  • The Shark (John Tenta/Earthquake)
  • Steve Armstrong
  • Road Warrior Hawk
  • Dave Sullivan
  • Scotty Riggs
  • Television Champion Johnny B. Badd (Marc Mero)
  • Big Train Bart (formerly Black Bart)
  • Lord Steven Regal (William Regal)
  • Dirty Dick Slater
  • Maxx Muscle
  • Super Assassin #1 (The Barbarian under a mask)
  • Fidel Sierra of the Barrio Brothers (Penzer calls him "Barrio Brother Fidel")
  • The Taskmaster Kevin Sullivan
  • Jerry Sags
  • Hacksaw Jim Duggan
  • The other half of the WCW Tag Team Champions Booker T
  • Big Bubba Rogers (The Big Boss Man)
  • Ric Flair
  • And finally, Hulk Hogan
Immediately, you can tell why I think this match type is bloated. There are obviously big names in the match and some solid midcard guys, but holy hell, there are some complete randos in this match. Some of these guys don't wrestle outside of Saturday Night. I've watched all the Nitros from before this match, and I can honestly say I've never seen single Barrio Brothers match in my life. Where the fuck did Mike Winner come from? I actually let a genuine "WHO? like Deuce from the Broadcast Boys when James Earl Wright came out. Again, a match where everyone on the roster gets to compete for the company's top prize sounds good on paper, but when you need to resort to the lowest of the lower card to fill out that match, it's just laughable. Michael Buffer runs through the rules as Steven Regal does some hilarious facial work behind him.
Regal is the best man.
Eat shit audience at home, you don't even get to see the first elimination, as The Yeti gets tossed out of ring #3 (the furthest right) by a ton of people in the match (there's no telling who) while we get shown ring #2 (the middle ring.) Jesus Christ. Also, eat shit Yeti, that's pretty much the end of that gimmick in WCW. We then get a split screen, which means that you have to follow three things at once for the majority of the match.
It's impossible to see every elimination as they happen, so I'll just write down what I see. And you can't even just go by who started in which ring, because they don't tell you who started in each ring. Everyone just gets their name read out and that's it. The commentators said they were randomly assigned to a ring, not telling us which ring makes the match even harder to follow. The only way to catch as many eliminations as possible is to rewind countless times and try to follow the order of eliminations on Cagematch.net, which is a process that 1. wasn't possible when the match actually happened in 1995, and 2. makes this near 30-minute match even longer. You can't rely on any of the commentators (there are two for each ring) because they're not all talking at once, you have to wait for them to switch to the specific team to find out what you missed in each ring, so I'll add in whenever the commentators say someone got eliminated without us seeing it.
Steven Regal (I think) tosses Mike Winner out of one of the rings. The Yeti then picks up Winner for no reason and just starts ramming him into the ring post. Meanwhile, one of the cameras cuts to Steve Armstrong on the floor at ringside, so I think he's out. At one point, Arn Anderson throws Sting through the ropes to the outside so he & Ric Flair can beat him up. The fact that there are just people running around ringside randomly just makes the match even harder to follow, as you never really know who's eliminated and who's just outside the ring for no reason. Regal picks up another elimination by tossing Dave Sullivan out of the ring. Later, Mike Winner gets stretchered to the back. They did a stretcher spot...for Mike Winner. The commentators don't even know what's going on or how many eliminations there are, with Tony Schiavone saying he believes only two people have been eliminated.
Brian Knobbs punches Mark Starr off the apron for an elimination. One of the cameras cuts to James Earl Wright at ringside pulling Cobra down to eliminate him, while Cobra pulls Wright's partner Buddy Lee Parker out of the ring to eliminate him. Chris Cruise on commentary says some "virtual unknowns" have been tossed over the top rope and held on, while no one has been eliminated since the Yeti was. He actually said "virtual unknowns." And he's not wrong, they're actually doing "skin the cat" spots for random jobbers. Chris Kanyon, well before he was an actual presence on WCW TV, got a hope spot. This match is a nightmare. Randy Savage backdrops Bunkhouse Buck out of the ring, and later the camera barely catches Hugh Morrus clotheslining Marcus Bagwell out of the ring. Diamond Dallas Page eliminates Kanyon by punching him off the apron, causing him to take an ugly flat-back bump to the outside.
Thankfully, the match starts to pick up a bit here, as Regal eliminates Big Train Bart next, followed by Hulk Hogan eliminating Super Assassin #1 (Cagematch says it was him and not #2), and The Shark eliminating Maxx Muscle. Someone eliminates Fidel Sierra (no idea who) before Paul Orndorff throws Scott Armstrong out of the ring. Craig Pittman dumps Bobby Walker out of the ring. Stevie Ray holds Ricky Santana in place for Eddie Guerrero to eliminate with a dropkick. Mr. J.L. gets dumped over the top rope by Super Assassin #2 before Sting & Brian Knobbs eliminate Stevie Ray. The Giant tries to eliminate them both, and while Sting holds on, Knobbs hits the floor. Alex Wright & Pez Whatley get tossed out off-screen, while Booker T kicks Scotty Riggs out of the ring in the background. So many of these eliminations happen while the camera is not focused on them. It's so frustrating.
The One Man Gang dumps Super Assassin #2 out of the ring. Since he lasted longer than Super Assassin #1, does that mean he becomes Super Assassin #1 and the current #1 gets demoted? Makes you think. Randy Savage knocks Robert Eaton off the apron as everyone in ring #1 (the furthest left) leaves the ring and enters another ring, as half the men in their ring were eliminated. Even though there are only two rings full of people, they still use the triple split screen and just show one ring on two separate cameras. I am going to scream. Hogan picks up Dick Slater and dumps him over the top rope. Savage avoids a clothesline and dumps V.K. Wallstreet out of the ring. He then does the same to Scott Norton to eliminate him. Mercifully, enough people have been eliminated and now everyone has converged into one ring, ending the triple split screen. I have never been so happy.
Jim Duggan & Hawk team up to eliminate The Shark. At one point, Craig Pittman locks in a cross-armbreaker on Joey Maggs. Sure, why not. Pittman & Booker T then surely wonder "how the fuck is Joey Maggs still in this?" and swiftly eliminate him. Duggan eliminates Big Bubba Rogers before we see Scott Armstrong being wheeled to the back on a stretcher. They did two stretcher spots in this match. One was for MIKE WINNER, and the other was for SCOTT ARMSTRONG. What are we fucking doing? Bubba responds to his elimination by pulling Duggan out of the ring before Hawk tosses Disco Inferno out of the ring. Pittman then tosses Dave Taylor out of the ring before Hogan dumps Jerry Sags and Booker out of the ring. Hogan quickly follows up by tossing Kevin Sullivan out of the ring before Arn Anderson eliminates Regal by throwing him into the ring post. Johnny B. Badd eliminates DDP, who in turn pulls him out. Pittman just blatantly jumps over the top rope when trying to eliminate someone, while Chris Benoit gets eliminated by Kurasawa in the background. Even with fewer people in the ring, this is still hard to follow.
Meng eliminates Kurasawa, only to then get eliminated by the One Man Gang. Brian Pillman & Hugh Morrus team up to eliminate the Zodiac, only for Morrus to get clotheslined out by Kensuke Sasaki. Hawk eliminates Pillman while saving Sasaki from elimination, with Schiavone actually acknowledging that the two were tag partners in Japan. That's a nice little moment in this pile of shit of a match. Hawk then blatantly calls for Hogan to eliminate him & Sasaki on the hard camera. Hogan obliges. Sting & Eddie Guerrero double team The Giant, with Guerrero sitting on the top turnbuckle and putting on a sleeper hold while Sting hits a Stinger Splash. The Giant dodges a second splash, however, and Sting nearly knocks Guerrero off the top rope. Meanwhile, Paul Orndorff tries to piledrive Hogan, but Hogan powers out and drops him out of the ring. Ric Flair & Arn Anderson try to eliminate Guerrero, but Guerrero fights back and hits a missile dropkick on Anderson. Flair then locks in a Figure Four Leglock on Guerrero. Meanwhile, The Giant bodyslams Randy Savage before Anderson hits a Spinebuster on Guerrero before eliminating him.
It's down to the final eight as Sting hits a Stinger Splash each on Flair & Anderson, only for The Giant to hit an Atomic Drop on him to halt the momentum. The Giant then hits a chokeslam on Savage before Flair & Anderson go for a Spike Piledriver on Sting. Sting, however, blocks it and slingshots Anderson into Flair, knocking him off the top rope and eliminating him. Hogan quickly follows up by clotheslining Anderson out of the ring, leaving six men in the ring. Hogan & Savage try to eliminate the One Man Gang while Luger & Sting team up on The Giant. Hogan runs over and dumps all three of them out of the ring, only for The Giant to pull him under the bottom rope and out of the ring. Because what would a major match in WCW history be without some Hulk Hogan-centered bullshit?
As Hogan is pulled out of the ring, Savage eliminates the One Man Gang in the background. Seeing Hogan out of the ring, the referee calls for the bell, and Savage is announced as the winner. Hogan bodyslams The Giant outside the ring before running into the ring to protest. This is clearly some Hogan politicking that protects him above everything else, even if it dampens the world championship victory by Savage. For nearly five straight minutes, Hogan & Savage argue, saying the same things over and over again before agreeing to rewatch the ending of the match on Nitro tomorrow night.

The Verdict

I might be in the minority on this, but this is the worst experience I've ever had trying to watch a wrestling match. For the first half of the match, you can barely tell what is happening, and you have to rely on endless rewinding and the commentators telling you who's been eliminated to know what's going on. The fact that there are tons of people running around & fighting at ringside makes it even harder to watch. The second half isn't much better, as even though the action is condensed into one ring, there are still times when people get eliminated in the background of other shots. All the action in this match is just punching & shoving, there are very few actual moves until the very end of the match, and even then, you can still count the number of moves on one hand. And to top it off, the ending, which did nothing but let Hogan save face by not actually losing, ended up harming Savage's big win in the "greatest battle royal in the history of wrestling" as they called it. Because of all that, and how genuinely horrible it was to watch this...

  215. The 1995 World War 3 Match
I'm dead serious. At least with Akira Maeda vs Andre the Giant, I know exactly what's going on during the match. This match is just a sensory overload that is miserable to watch & impossible to follow. There is nothing you get with this match, not even comprehension of it. And unfortunately, I've got three more of these to go...

1996

Much to my dismay, WCW decided to run World War 3 again the following year, with the winner instead receiving a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship currently held by Hollywood Hogan. The participants enter as follows:
  • Lex Luger
  • Eddie Guerrero
  • Tony Rumble
  • Diamond Dallas Page
  • High Voltage's Kaos (not the XPW one)
  • High Voltage's Ruckus (Robbie Rage, not the CZW one)
  • M. Wallstreet (formerly V.K. Wallstreet)
  • Marcus (still not Buff) Bagwell
  • Scotty Riggs
  • Sgt. Craig Pittman
  • Booker T
  • Stevie Ray
  • Big Bubba (Rogers)
  • Hugh Morrus
  • Konnan
  • Ron Studd (the former YETAY!)
  • Television Champion Lord Steven Regal
  • La Parka
  • Pez Whatley
  • Steve "Mongo" McMichael with Debra by his side
  • Disco Inferno
  • The Renegade
  • Joe Gomez
  • Meng
  • The Barbarian
  • Bunkhouse Buck
  • Arn Anderson
  • Johnny Grunge
  • Ciclope
  • Galaxy (Damian 666)
  • Syxx (X-Pac/1-2-3 Kid)
  • One-half of the Tag Team Champions Scott Hall
  • The other half of the Tag Team Champions Kevin Nash
  • The Giant
  • Scott Norton
  • Ultimate Dragon (Ultimo Dragon)
  • Jimmy Graffiti (Jimmy Del Ray of the Heavenly Bodies)
  • Mike Enos
  • Rey Mysterio Jr.
  • Road Block
  • Ice Train
  • Jack Boot (Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker)
  • Jim Duggan
  • A very bruised Chris Benoit accompanied by Woman
  • Juventud Guerrera
  • Jacques Rougeau
  • Carl Ouellet (the future PCO)
  • Prince Iaukea
  • Cruiserweight Champion Dean Malenko
  • Jeff Jarrett
  • Bobby Eaton
  • Jim Powers
  • Squire David Taylor
  • Chris Jericho
  • Alex Wright
  • Mark Starr
  • Mr. JL
  • Villano IV
  • Rick Steiner
  • And finally...Kevin Sullivan with Jimmy Hart
Immediately, Chris Benoit charges at Sullivan, leading to a brawl between the Four Horsemen and the Dungeon of Doom outside the ring. The two groups brawl into the crowd as the match is underway, meaning we once again get a triple split screen where you can barely tell what's going on. And unfortunately, Cagematch.net does not have the order of eliminations for this match, so I just have to write what I see or what the commentators say. It doesn't help that we'll get full screens for the brawling in the crowd as they make their way back to ringside instead of the actual match. There's so much chaos that the commentators don't know if any is eliminated until they're told the Horsemen and the Dungeon of Doom are all eliminated. The only thing of note happening outside of that is that the nWo (Hall, Nash, Giant, and Syxx) are all teaming up in ring #2.
Tony Rumble is the first person we see get eliminated, while Ciclope is walking around outside the ring, so I'm guessing he's out. One very noticeable improvement in this match over last year's was that they kept the number of people brawling & running around outside the ring (aside from the Horsemen-Dungeon brawl) to a minimum, so keeping track of whose in and whose not is a lot easier. The next person we hear about getting eliminated is Mike Enos before we are told La Parka got tossed out by Lex Luger. Scott Norton also gets eliminated at some point. Only one elimination has been caught on camera. What the fuck are we doing? Pez Whatley gets eliminated by Craig Pittman in an elimination that's barely visible before we're told the nWo dumped The Renegade, Jimmy Graffiti, and Galaxy, who is shown walking away at ringside, outside of the ring. Mark Starr is out next, getting thrown out by Jim Duggan & Ice Train before Prince Iaukea gets knocked out by Jack Boot. Luger picks up another elimination by tossing Kaos out of the ring. Joe Gomez gets dumped out of the ring by The Giant, who later eliminates Road Block. Mr. JL gets eliminated by one of the French Canadians (either Jacques Rougeau or Carl Ouellet) around the same time.
Kevin Nash hits a powerbomb on Disco Inferno just for fun while everyone in ring #1 gangs up on Ron Studd. Jim Duggan & The French Canadians take each other out of the ring while Chris Jericho, Jim Powers, and Ice Train all team up to eliminate Villano IV. Eddie Guerrero pulls a Randy Savage and dives over the top rope onto Steven Regal (who was not eliminated) while Marcus Bagwell eliminates his own partner Scotty Riggs, only to be tossed out by M. Wallstreet right after. Bobby Eaton gets dumped out by Alex Wright & Jim Powers before Wright picks up another elimination, dropkicking David Taylor out of the ring. Diamond Dallas Page sends a charging Wallstreet out of the ring before Jericho eliminates Juventud Guerrera with a dropkick. With enough people eliminated, everyone converges into ring #2. This includes Eddie Guerrero, who is allowed to stay in the match even though he dove over the top rope because this match is a mess and who fucking cares?
Scott Hall dumps Jack Boot out of the ring, while DDP tosses Johnny Grunge out soon after. Craig Pittman tosses Jim Powers out of the ring before Jeff Jarrett eliminates Dean Malenko. DDP tosses Pittman out of the ring while Nash throws Booker T out. Nash picks up another elimination by throwing Disco Inferno out of the ring, while Alex Wright eliminates Bunkhouse Buck before Eddie Guerrero sends a charging Stevie Ray out of the ring. Wright & Lex Luger team up to eliminate Ron Studd before The Giant tosses Rick Steiner out. Ultimate Dragon gets eliminated at some point before Luger dumps Wright out of the ring. Steven Regal uppercuts Chris Jericho out of the ring before the nWo teams up to dump Ice Train out of the ring.
It's down to the final ten before Regal backdrops Guerrero out of the ring. Mysterio is the next one out, with The Giant one-hand gorilla pressing him out of the ring and onto Guerrero. Jarrett gets clotheslined out next by Nash before Regal sends a charging DDP out of the ring. The nWo, however, gangs up on Regal and eliminates him. It's down to the final five; Luger by himself against the nWo. Luger's a house of fire, running through everyone and dodging a corner splash by The Giant. Luger picks up The Giant for the Torture Rack, but Syxx makes the save. Hall goes for the Outsider's Edge, but Luger powers out and lifts him out of the ring. Luger follows up by pressing Syxx out of the ring and onto Hall before hitting a forearm on Nash and putting him in the Torture Rack. However, The Giant runs over and tips both men over the top rope and out of the ring for the win and the title shot. The nWo celebrates in the ring to close out the show.

The Verdict

A noticeable improvement over last year, but still a horrible viewing experience. Just like the previous year, this World War 3 match is a cluttered mess of a match with way too much going on to follow. It's going a bit higher than last year because there's less action outside the ring and it doesn't have a screwy finish that only protects one person, but it's still way at the bottom of the list.

Thanks for reading! Be sure to share if you enjoyed and leave any suggestions for matches you'd like to see covered on the Worst in the World in the comments. Next week, I'll be finishing this journey through World War 3 and taking a look at the final two matches in 1997 and 1998. Stay tuned.

  1. I knew for sure that these would be very low on the list, but I wasn't expecting the top spot to be knocked off. I am keeping this as a point of pride. My apologies for making you have to sift through the absolute disaster that was the 1995 match; one of my friends asked me what it is like having ADHD when I am unmedicated, and I genuinely showed him that match as my explanation. So much action happening, but so little of it is comprehensible.

    1. Well you did it, you found something that makes Andre/Maeda look like Styles/Nakamura

    2. I'll take the L on this one because after watching it for myself I have to agree, The ring work may not be as sloppy and clunky as Andre vs Maeda but in terms of sheer viewing experience at least Maeda/Andre is POSSIBLE to watch and doesn't hurt your eyes

    3. Otter nailed it on the head. The '95 match was easily the most chaotic, most incomprehensible match I've ever seen. I'd seen it once before and knew it hard to follow, but I forgot just HOW hard it was to follow. Thankfully they took steps to make the match easier to watch in the following years.

  2. You know something bad is when it makes the match with two legends having a shoot fight temper tantrum look more watchable.

My next request is Stone Cold vs Owen Hart Summerslam 1997

    1. That's an interesting one because you never really hear about the actual match, just the piledriver and Austin's injury. I'll add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion!

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: What is the Worst Wrestling Match of All Time?

Note: This series is based off a YouTube series " The Search for the Worst " by I Hate Everything, where he reviews every movie on IMDB's Bottom 100. It's a great, funny series and I'd recommend checking it out. Have you ever just thought to yourself "What is the worst match of all time?"? I don't mean something like a boring John Cena-Randy Orton match, I mean a match where the wrestlers have zero chemistry, little wrestling ability, or literally no idea what they are actually doing. I've thought about this for a while, and I've decided to finally figure it out. So I'm going to watch any match that is: a) A winner of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for the Worst Worked Match of the Year. or:  b) Listed on the 100 worst rated wrestling matches of all time on the Internet Wrestling Database .   (Note: Some matches appear on awards that aren't on the list.) There are 115 (EDIT: Now 99)  matches on here. I pu

Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock are at the top of the card. Triple H is on the rise to the main event. Mankind is playing the ultimate likable & respected babyface. Names like the Undertaker, Kane, and the Big Show are all major players. The undercard is stacked with big names like D-Generation X, D'Lo Brown, and Ken Shamrock, rising stars like The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian, and new signings like Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, and the Dudley Boyz. The WWF was so red hot in 1999 that even an all-time bad WrestleMania in WrestleMania XV couldn't slow them down. But there was one other factor that made 1999 such a good year for the WWF; the fact that their main competitor, WCW, was beginning to crack. At the same time the WWF was reaching the highest heights they'd ever reache
