My Thoughts on RAW (9/12/16): Foxhunter

  • We kick off the show with Mick Foley in the ring. He hypes up tonight's Roman Reigns/Kevin Owens match up before bringing out Charlotte. Despite smacking the sh*t out of her, Dana Brooke comes out with her because what else are they gonna do with her. Charlotte says an apology is in order...from Dana. She says she was embarrassed because Dana caused her to lose Bayley last week and because she got beat up by Sasha Banks. She threatens to end her mentorship of Dana before Foley interrupts her and says she has to defend her Women's Championship at Clash of Champions before Sasha Banks comes out. She's the face of the Women's Division and the only legit boss in WWE. She says she'll take the Women's Championship back from Charlotte in two weeks before Bayley comes out. She nervously says that because she beat Charlotte last week, maybe she should get the title shot at Clash of Champions. Sasha says that they might be friends, but that Bayley needs to get to the back of the line because she & Charlotte have unfinished business. Charlotte insults her and Sasha offers to fight right now. Foley says that Sasha was originally going to get the title match at Clash of Champions, but Dana proposes that Sasha & Bayley face off in a match for the title match. Foley agrees and books Bayley vs Sasha Banks tonight. Charlotte starts berating Dana for giving Foley the idea, so Dana slaps her. Foley then adds her to the match, and it starts next.
  • Sasha Banks vs Bayley vs Dana Brooke with Charlotte on commentary-Dana boots Bayley from the ring to start and goes to work on Sasha. Sasha counters Dana's offense and beats down Dana in the corner. Dana sends Sasha out of the ring but almost gets rolled up by Bayley. Bayley takes Dana around the ring and throws Dana into each turnbuckle. Bayley hits a corner clothesline on Dana for a near fall and continues to work her over. Bayley works over Dana's right arm before Sasha yanks Dana out of the ring, leaving Bayley & Sasha. Dana runs in just to take a double hip toss before the commercial break. We come back to Dana working over Bayley with a surfboard. Dana goes for the Samoan Driver, but Sasha rolls in and gets a roll up for a near fall. Sasha hits a corner knee drop on Dana before Bayley hits a diving crossbody on her for a near fall. Dana clotheslines Sasha & Bayley down for two near falls before tossing both of them into corners. Dana tries for a superplex on Bayley, but Sasha runs in and they do the Tower of Doom spot, which Sasha gets a near fall on Dana off of. Sasha kicks Dana and goes for a Backstabber, but Dana blocks it. Sasha gets in on the second attempt and locks in the Bank Statement, but Bayley breaks it up. Bayley hits the Bayley-to-Belly on Dana and makes the cover, but Sasha breaks it up and stacks up Bayley for the win. Really good match, every in the match did a very good job. Yes, even Dana.
  • Backstage, Dana Brooke tries to apologize to Charlotte, but Charlotte has none of it and makes her carry her bags.
  • Also backstage, the Shining Stars try to convince R-Truth to buy a timeshare in Puerto Rico. Yes, because "Timeshare Salesmen" is a gimmick that will definitely get over. Goldust ushers Truth away before Enzo & Cass walk up. They call out Primo & Epico for cheating last week and challenges Epico tonight.
  • Tom Phillips interviews Kevin Owens. Owens calls him Tyler and says he's better than Seth Rollins and that Roman Reigns doesn't belong in the same ring as him. He adds that Foley has a vendetta against him because he knows he was never as good as Triple H. He says he'll walk out of Clash of Champions still the Universal Champion. Jericho then shows up and says he has no guest tonight because Owens got pulled by Foley. He says his new guest is Sami Zayn and he's going to show everyone who the real Sami Zayn is. He also adds that Sami Zayn is a stupid idi...IT! Combining his two catchphrases. Perfect.
  • Bo Dallas vs Brandon Scott-Bo cuts another cryptic poem promo before taking the beating to Scott. Scott manages to get a good amount of offense, evening tossing him from the ring, but Bo quickly regains control and hits Cross Rhodes for the win.
  • It's the Highlight Reel with Chris Jericho. He calls his guest tonight the "lowest of the low" and that brings out Sami Zayn. He says he knows why Owens would dump him as a friend and says he wants to know what kind of a man Zayn really is. He says Zayn was the problem in their friendship, but Zayn says he's done with Owens outside of trying to win the Universal Champion. Zayn calls Jericho a stupid idiot for thinking Owens is truly his friend. Jericho says Zayn is a taker, unlike him, who is a giver. Zayn says Owens will turn on Jericho at some point because Owens cares about himself. Jericho says Zayn is jealous of Owens, buy Zayn says Jericho is nothing more than Owens' bitch. Jericho says that Owens texted Jericho to tell him what Zayn was going to say and is about to show Zayn, but instead smacks him with the phone and gives him a Codebreaker.
  • Cesaro vs Sheamus-Match #5 in the Best of 7 Series (Sheamus leads 3-1)-Where did that win come from? Well, Cesaro got the win at a house show last week. Sheamus targets the back of Cesaro like he did last week, but the two trade blows before Cesaro gets the near fall off a clothesline. Sheamus backs Cesaro into the corner back first and whips Cesaro around the ring before Cesaro uppercuts Sheamus. Sheamus avoids a Sharpshooter by getting to the ropes and rolling out of the ring, only for Cesaro to hit a seated senton off the apron followed by a uppercut before the commercial break. We come back to Sheamus holding Cesaro in an over-the-shoulder rack. Sheamus continues to hammer away at Cesaro's back before Cesaro starts ramming Sheamus' head into the ring post. Cesaro goes up top, but Sheamus uppercuts him and goes for the superplex. Cesaro knocks him down and hits a diving crossbody for a near fall. Cesaro uppercuts Sheamus into oblivion before Sheamus hits the running senton and tries for the Cloverleaf. Cesaro counters it with a roll up and hits a springboard uppercut for a near fall. Sheamus blocks the Neutralizer, but Cesaro is able to lock in the Sharpshooter. Sheamus makes it to the ropes, but Cesaro goes for the Cesaro Swing. Cesaro's back gives out, allowing Sheamus to hit an Irish Curse Backbreaker for a near fall. Sheamus goes for the Celtic Cross, but Cesaro slips out and rolls up Sheamus, using the ropes for leverage and getting the win. Another good match from these two.
  • Backstage, Foley is confronted by Seth Rollins. He disapproves of Roman Reigns getting a chance to join the match at Clash of Champions. Foley says that Reigns was wronged just as bad Rollins was two weeks ago, so Rollins argues to he just wants to get his hands on Owens with no distractions. Rollins threatens to interfere in the Owens-Reigns match because he continues to support Stephanie McMahon and stand with her, so Foley blows up and tells him not to question his integrity. Rollins calls Foley a fool for trusting Stephanie.
  • Alicia Fox vs Nia Jax-So after Alicia Fox told Nia Jax to get out of her face...now, and accidentally smacking her in the face with a box of tissues, we've got a match between the two. Nia says in a pre-match interview that she's going to beat the crap out of Alicia. Nia dominates to start, even shoving Alicia over the top rope and to the outside. Alica gets some offense in with a big boot and hoping on the back of Nia, only to get rammed into the ring post before being swung into the barricade multiple times. Nia tosses Alicia aside before spearing her through the timekeeper's area. Multiple referees come down to check on Alicia and send Nia to the back. Damn, that was brutal. You don't normally see the women do a spot like that. Alicia took one hell of a beating.
  • IT'S A NEW DAY, YES IT IS! The New Day comes out. Big E feeds people Booty-Os from his boot. Why not? They mock Anderson & Gallows for that awful segment from last week and say that they burned the footage of that segment so the crowd never has to see it again. They joke about pandering when Kofi drops a Baltimore Ravens reference in Baltimore. They apologize for Anderson & Gallows wasting their time before Anderson & Gallows come out. They call the Baltimore crowd stupid and say the New Day do nothing but pander. They say they will beat the New Day at Clash of Champions for the Tag Team Championships.
  • The New Day vs Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows-So because New Day vs Gallows & Anderson is booked for Clash of Champions in two weeks, WWE is giving the match away for free tonight, because that makes zero sense. Stupid idiots...Anderson & Woods start off with Woods getting the better end of a back and forth exchange with a dropkick. The New Day double team Anderson before Kofi hits a diving stomp for a near fall. Anderson backs Kofi into his team's corner, but Kofi keeps control off a springboard crossbody on Gallows. Gallows tosses Kofi over the top rope and the heels take control. Gallows plants Kofi with a big boot and goes to work on him. The heels continue to work over Kofi until he dodges a second rope elbow drop from Gallows. Woods gets the hot tag and runs wild on Anderson, hitting a discuss elbow and a running knee followed by the Honor Roll for a near fall. Woods & Anderson trade blows before Anderson stuns Woods with an uppercut. Woods manages to hit a springboard DDT before hitting a tightrope springboard elbow drop, but Gallows breaks up the pin. Gallows & Anderson hit the Magic Killer for the win over the New Day. Tune in on the 25th to see if Gallows & Anderson can get the win over the New Day.
  • Tom Phillips interviews Roman Reigns. He says he's focused on getting to Clash of Champions and winning the Universal Championship, and the only way to do that is by kicking Kevin Owens' ass tonight.
  • Jinder Mahal vs Jack Swagger-Mahal is now referred to as "the man who comes in peace." He says he was gone because he felt hate but has learned to let it all go and has found inner peace. He says he wants to share his new way of life with everyone else. Mahal goes down on his knees as soon as the match starts, but takes control early on. Mahal beats down Swagger before he rolls to the outside. Mahal follows him and the two fight at ringside. Back in the ring, Mahal gets a near fall off a high knee and another off a dropkick. Swagger fights back with a back body drop and runs through Mahal, but Mahal blocks the Swagger Bomb with an up kick and hits a jumping neckbreaker for the win. Lame match, neither of these guys are interesting whatsoever.
  • Tom Phillips interviews Jack Swagger. He brings up the fact that Swagger's contract with RAW is expiring soon. Wait, so does that mean they only signed him to like a two-month contract in kayfabe. That makes no sense. He must be leaving for real, possibly.
  • Enzo Amore vs Epico-Enzo hits a headscissor takedown quick into the match, but Epico whips him into the corner hard to take control. Epico suplexes Enzo around, including an admittedly impressive delayed vertical suplex. Epico almost gets the roll up win before Enzo hits a crossbody and punches away at Epico. Enzo hits a jumping DDT and goes to the top rope, but Primo hops up and distracts him. Cass boots Primo on the outside but gets taken out with a suicide dive from Epico. Enzo then takes out Epico with a dive to the outside and tries to suplex Epico into the ring, but Primo yanks Enzo's legs out from under him, allowing Epico to get the pin while Primo holds Enzo's feet down. Whatever match.
  • Backstage, Kevin Owens runs into Seth Rollins. Owens reminds Rollins he's not allowed to touch him, but Rollins says he'd love for their match to stay 1-on-1. Owens jokes that people always did all the work for Rollins and he took all the credit, especially Triple H and that he's hurt that Triple H dropped him for Owens. Owens then says Rollins let RAW down by failing to win the WWE Championship from Dean Ambrose and losing to a one armed Finn Balor at SummerSlam. Foley comes in and says that's enough and tells Owens his match is next. Foley then reminds Rollins to not get involved in the match tonight.
  • Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens-Owens immediately rolls out of the ring to start but Reigns follows him out and the two fight at ringside. Back in the ring, Owens stomps away at Reigns and beats him down. Reigns starts to fight back, but Owens ducks out of the ring again. Reigns follows him out again and whips Owens into the barricade. The two continue to fight at ringside again before heading back in the ring. Owens hits a senton for a near fall and locks in a headlock because he's the Headlock Master. Reigns fights out and slams Owens before clotheslining Owens a bunch. Reigns calls for the Superman Punch, but Owens rolls out again. Reigns goes for the Superman Punch on the outside, but Owens counters with a superkick and throws him into the ring post before the commercial break. We come back to Owens holding Reigns in a headlock. Reigns fights out, but Owens keeps control on the outside. Suddenly, Rollins runs down and blindsides Owens from behind and beats down Owens, causing the DQ and giving the win to Owens. Referees run down and Foley berates him on the mic. Foley sends Rollins to the back and restarts the match. Owens tosses Reigns into the stairs. Reigns fights back in the ring and the two trade blows, ending with Owens kneeing Reigns. Reigns clotheslines Owens and turns him inside out. Reigns hits a Samoan Drop on Owens and sets him up on the top rope. Reigns goes for the superplex, but Owens counters with a super sidewinder suplex for a near fall. He follows that up with a Frog Splash for another near fall. Reigns dodges a cannonball attempt and calls for the spear, but Owens blocks it with a knee, only to eat a Superman Punch right after. Reigns hits a Drive By Dropkick on the outside, but Owens catches him with a superkick when he gets back in the ring. Owens hits two cannonballs on Reigns before going for the Pop-Up Powerbomb. Reigns hops over and hits the schoolboy powerbomb for another near fall. Suddenly, Rusev runs down and Reigns takes him out with a Superman Punch. This allows Owens to hit the Pop-Up Powerbomb for the win. Great match, very exciting throughout. After the match, Rusev nails Reigns with a superkick and locks in the Accolade.
And that's about it. Overall, a pretty good episode of RAW. A lot of good matches and that's pretty much all I've got. Let's see if SmackDown can top it tomorrow.

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: Nia Jax's Worst Matches

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Nia Jax's first run with the WWE can really only be described as hard to watch. Sure, she had a few stand-out matches, most notably (and surprisingly) her match with Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank, and an underrated gem with Bayley at NXT TakeOver: London, but those were always outshined by her most infamous matches and moments. She's since returned to WWE and, for the most part, seems to have improved a bit, but the reputation she got from her initial run is gonna be hard to shake off. This week, I'll be looking at some of Jax's worst matches. These include just flat-out bad matches, and matches that have become infamous examples of her reckless in-ring work. Match #1: vs Charlotte Flair-April 10th, 2017 Raw The first match we'll be looking at is from the April 10, 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw, when Nia took on Charlotte Flair. The two had been on the losing e

Worst in the World: Carmella vs Asuka: How to Destroy an Aura

Throughout the entire history of the WWE, we've never seen, and probably will never see again, a woman booked as strong as Asuka was to start her run. Coming into WWE in 2015 with over a decade of experience wrestling in her native Japan as Kana, Asuka was immediately treated like a huge deal. Hell, even from the first time we saw her on a WWE broadcast, she was seated in the crowd of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn next to two Hall of Famers in Ric Flair & Sgt. Slaughter. Officially debuting in October 2015, Asuka would go her entire NXT career, nearly two full years, without being pinned or submitted. She was booked so strong, in fact, that instead of dropping the NXT Women's Championship in what would be her last match in NXT at the time to Ember Moon (even after sustaining an injury), an act that is almost always the case for champions leaving NXT for the main roster, Asuka retained and later vacated the title, keeping her streak intact. For a company that is more than willing t
