My Thoughts on RAW (9/19/16): Technical Difficulties

(Hey everyone, sorry I've been gone for a week. I just started back up at college and I wanted to get readjusted to my new schedule. Back to regular posting I go.)
  • So thanks to the top notch service from my cable provider, my cable was out for the first 7 minutes, so I came in to see Mick Foley book Seth Rollins vs Rusev tonight and Roman Reigns vs Rusev at Clash of Champions for the United States Championship. Stephanie McMahon says she'll make sure that match happens, but Reigns doesn't trust her. Foley then goes on a rant about how if RAW loses the war to SmackDown then he's out of a job. He then announces that Roman Reigns will face Kevin Owens again tonight. This brings out Owens, who complains that he already beat Reigns twice last week. Stephanie says the match will happen and it will be non-title and Foley adds it will be a steel cage match.
  • Backstage, Stephanie and Foley argue about the main event before Rusev comes up and complains about Reigns getting a title match and having to face Rollins tonight. Rusev then insults Foley's family, saying that all the Foley's hate eachother. Foley then just sends him on his way to his match before getting a phone call from Chris Jericho.
  • Seth Rollins vs Rusev-The match kicks off with a lot of back and forth offense before Rollins hits a second rope Blockbuster and a single leg dropkick, sending Rusev out of the ring. Rollins goes for a diving knee off the apron, but Rusev dodges and rams Rollins into the ring post back first. Back in the ring, Rusev dominates Rollins until Rollins dodges a headbutt. Rollins goes to the top rope, but Rusev catches him up there and throws him down with one hand before the commercial break. We come back to Rollins hitting an enziguri. Rollins hits a Sling Blade followed by two forearms in the corner. Rusev counters a suplex with one of his own, but Rollins lands on his feet and hits a Falcon Arrow for a near-fall. Rusev blocks a superkick and counters a roll up before hitting a pop-up knee strike and a roundhouse kick for a near-fall. Rusev calls for the Accolade, but Rollins rolls out onto the apron. Rollins pulls Rusev down on the ropes, hits an enziguri and a springboard knee, but Rusev rolls out of the ring before a frog splash. Rollins hits a suicide dive, followed by another one. The two fight out on the ramp, earning them a double count out. Fine match, nothing special. After the match. Rusev tries to put Rollins through the announce table with a powerbomb but Rollins escapes and knocks Rusev off the stage with a knee to the back. He then hops up on the announce table and takes out Rusev with a crossbody.
  • Backstage, Dana Brooke & Charlotte show Foley footage from last week's triple threat, showing that Sasha's shoulders were down when she was pinning Bayley. Charlotte says that means there is no #1 contender for her title, so Dana proposes they cancel tonight's tag match and have a #1 contender's match between Bayley and Sasha Banks. Foley instead makes the match at Clash of Champions a triple threat between Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Bayley for the Women's Championship. Charlotte then pushes Dana to the ground.
  • Backstage, Chris Jericho says that Foley is trying to take his dislike of him out on Owens. Owens says Foley is a useless general manager, and Jericho decides to make a list of everything Foley has done wrong as general manager. According to Jericho, he's not going to like...IT!
  • Braun Strowman vs Sin Cara-Sin Cara starts off hot in the match before Strowman just swats him out of the air. Strowman tosses Sin Cara from the ring but gets caught with a kick and a suicide dive outside the ring. Sin Cara goes for a springboard moonsault, but Strowman catches him and hits a running powerslam to get the pin and the win.
  • Backstage, Bayley & Sasha Banks say they made history in NXT, but Sasha says those are old times. They then both say they'll be the new Women's Champion this Sunday.
  • Sasha Banks & Bayley vs Charlotte & Dana Brooke-Sasha and Dana start off, with Sasha taking control and tagging in Bayley. Dana quickly gains the upper hand and tags in Charlotte, but Bayley continuously rams Charlotte into the turnbuckle. Dana yells at Bayley, but she throws Charlotte into Dana and then tosses Dana out of the ring before the commercial break. We come back to the heels working over Bayley. They continue to get the heat on Bayley before Bayley hits a diving arm drag on Charlotte for a near-fall. Bayley & Sasha double suplex Charlotte before Sasha hits a springboard wrist-lock arm drag. Charlotte counters a corner leapfrog with a kick and knees Sasha into the turnbuckle. The heels then get the heat on Sasha, including Charlotte bending Sasha around the post back first. Sasha is able to counter a surfboard with tilt-a-whirl headscissors and makes the hot tag to Bayley. Bayley runs wild on Charlotte with elbows and clotheslines before hitting a diving corkscrew elbow. Dana saves Charlotte from a Belly-to-Bayley, and the distraction is enough to allow Charlotte to nail Bayley with a big boot for the win. Fine match, nothing special.
  • Before the commercial break, Seth Rollins enters Stephanie McMahon's office.
  • In Stephanie's office, Rollins asks why Stephanie threw away all the good times they had for Kevin Owens. Stephanie says she doesn't know why Triple H did what he did, but Rollins doesn't believe her. Stephanie then berates him for failing to win back the WWE Championship from Dean Ambrose. God, I love it when she runs down talent without repercussions. Rollins then says he'll win the Universal Championship from Owens and will be a champion Stephanie & Foley can't control. Stephanie tells Rollins not to threaten her and says Owens has replaced him as the man. Rollins says she lost her touch after Shane returned.
  • Bo Dallas vs Gary Graham-Bo recites a poem, beats up the Chumlee-looking jobber in the ring, and hits Cross Rhodes for the win. All while the crowd chants "LET'S GO JOBBER!" and "DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!" That's how not over this is.
  • Cesaro vs Sheamus in Match #6 of the Best of 7 Series (Sheamus leads 3-2)-Sheamus rushes Cesaro and targets the back early on. Cesaro almost gets the Neutralizer early on, but Sheamus counters, only to eat a European Uppercut. Sheamus ends up regaining control after throwing Cesaro over the top rope before the commercial break. We come back to Cesaro dropkicking Sheamus off the top rope to the outside. Cesaro then uppercuts Sheamus over the barricade and throws him back in the ring. Cesaro hits a springboard uppercut for a near-fall before Sheamus hits White Noise on the ring apron for a near-fall. Sheamus goes for a Brogue Kick, but Cesaro dodges and almost gets the roll up, but Sheamus kicks out and hits an Irish Curse Backbreaker. He follows it up with a Celtic Cross dropped into a backbreaker before locking in the Cloverleaf. Cesaro escapes and after Sheamus gets caught using the ropes on a roll-up, Cesaro almost gets the Neutralizer. Sheamus escapes and goes for a Brogue Kick, but Cesaro sends him onto the ring apron. Sheamus tries for a battering ram, but Cesaro catches him with an uppercut before hitting the Neutralizer for the win, evening the series at 3-3. Good match.
  • Backstage, Mick Foley says on the phone to someone that  is approached by Chris Jericho, who tells Foley about his list of complaints. Foley shrugs him off and calls him a stupid idiot, to which Jericho adds "steals people's catchphrases" to the list. Chris Jericho is amazing. Jericho then says he'll reveal to the world what is on the List of Jericho.
  • Chris Jericho is out in the ring with the List of Jericho. He says Foley has been screwing up the entire show, so he's listed all of Foley's bad decisions including
    • Trying to drive a wedge between him and Kevin Owens
    • His terrible fashion sense
    • His liking towards Sami Zayn
  • He even adds a fan when they yell at him before threatening to add everyone to the list. Outcomes Enzo & Cass. Enzo says Jericho isn't best friends with Kevin Owens because a best friend wouldn't let a friend dress the way Jericho does. Cass lists off famous best friends, to which Jericho adds that half of them don't even exist. Then outcomes the Shining Stars. They do nothing, so outcomes the New Day. They say they had nothing better to do than come out before Xavier Woods shills out UpUpDownDown. They say they'll retain over Gallows & Anderson at Clash of Champions, so Gallows & Anderson come out. Jericho yells that he's made a new list. A list of Stupid Idiots, and it has everyone in the ring on it. Outcomes Sami Zayn, who attacks Jericho. This starts a big brawl before the commercial break. The segment was great when it was Jericho, but it just got cluttered the more people came out.
  • Sami Zayn, The New Day, Enzo Amore, and Big Cass vs Chris Jericho, The Shining Stars, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows-The faces kick off by dominating every heel that gets in the ring before Gallows clotheslines Kofi from the ring apron. The heels now get the heat on Kofi before Kofi makes the hot tag to Big Cass. Cass runs wild on Primo, hitting the Empire Elbow, but Epico breaks it up. Chaos ensues, ending with Kofi hitting a lifted tope onto Gallows, Anderson, and Epico. Back in the ring, Zayn hits a springboard tornado DDT on Jericho and the Helluva Kick on Primo. This allows Enzo & Cass to hit the Rocket Launcher for the win. Crazy match, hard to follow.
  • Mick Foley's out to mess up a promo a bit. He introduces the cruiserweight division. He brings out Rich Swann, Gran Metalik, who cuts a picture-in-picture promo in Spanish, Cedric Alexander, and Brian Kendrick. Foley announces that TJ Perkins will defend the Cruiserweight Championship at Clash of Champions against the winner of a fatal 4-way next.
  • Rich Swann vs Gran Metalik vs Cedric Alexander vs Brian Kendrick-So, like I said earlier, because I only have the best service, my cable went out again, so I missed a lot of this match. My cable finally came back just in time to see Metalik hit a big tope onto everyone. Kendrick yanks Metalik down hard onto the ground before throwing Swann into the barricade and the stairs before the commercial break. We come back to Metalik hitting a top rope elbow drop on Kendrick and a dropkick & standing shooting star on Swann for a near-fall. Metalik goes for a moonsault, but Swann blocks with his feet and hits a double underhook powerbomb for another near-fall. Alexander & Swann go back and forth before Alexander hits a handspring enziguri for another near-fall. Kendrick tosses Alexander from the ring and goes for the Sliced Bread on Swann, but Metalik catches him, so Kendrick hits a Tornado DDT. Swann hits a superkick on Alexander and a standing 450, but Kendrick tosses him out and locks in the Bully Choke, which he now calls the Captain's Hook on Alexander. Metalik breaks it up, but Alexander hits him with the Lumbar Check, only for Kendrick to lock in the Bully Choke again for the win. From what I saw, great match, but a bit too hectic at times.
  • AND MY GOD DAMN INTERNET GOES OUT FOR THE THIRD TIME TONIGHT! FOR F*CKS SAKE!
  • Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens in a Steel Cage match-So, luckily it came back just in time for this match. Owens immedatley dashes for the door twice, but Reigns stops him each time. Reigns clotheslines Owens three times before Owens throws Reigns into the cage and hits a superkick for a near-fall before the commercial break. We come back to the two battling on the top rope before Owens knocks Reigns down. Reigns then crotches Owens on the top rope and Reigns splashes him against the cage three times. Reigns calls for Superman Punch, but Owens tries to crawl out of the cage door. Reigns stops him and hits a Samoan Drop before clotheslining him in the corner. Owens counters a clothesline and hits a German Suplex before hitting a cannonball. Owens tries to leave through the door again, but Reigns stops him and blocks Owens' senton with his knees. Reigns tries for the door, but Owens stops him. The two trade blows before Owens hits a superkick. Owens goes for the Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Reigns counters it with a Superman Punch out of the pop-up. Reigns calls for the spear, but Owens blocks it and hits a Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Reigns kicks out. The two fight on the top rope again before Reigns hits a Superman Punch off the top rope. Reigns goes over the top of the cage before Owens can make it out the door and wins the match. Good match, not much else. After the match, Rusev attacks Reigns and Owens kicks the door in his face. Rusev throws Reigns back in the cage and locks the cage door with a chain. Man, if only there was like a big opening at the top of the cage for someone to climb in. Stupid idiots. Rusev & Owens beat down Reigns, with Rusev locking in the Accolade before Rollins runs down, scales the cage and hits a crossbody off the cage on both men to close the show.
And that's about it. Overall, a pretty boring episode of RAW. Aside from the Cruiserweights debuting, not much exciting happened. Although I might have enjoyed the show a little more if my GOD DAMN INTERNET DIDN'T KEEP GOING OUT!

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: Nia Jax's Worst Matches

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Nia Jax's first run with the WWE can really only be described as hard to watch. Sure, she had a few stand-out matches, most notably (and surprisingly) her match with Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank, and an underrated gem with Bayley at NXT TakeOver: London, but those were always outshined by her most infamous matches and moments. She's since returned to WWE and, for the most part, seems to have improved a bit, but the reputation she got from her initial run is gonna be hard to shake off. This week, I'll be looking at some of Jax's worst matches. These include just flat-out bad matches, and matches that have become infamous examples of her reckless in-ring work. Match #1: vs Charlotte Flair-April 10th, 2017 Raw The first match we'll be looking at is from the April 10, 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw, when Nia took on Charlotte Flair. The two had been on the losing e

Worst in the World: Carmella vs Asuka: How to Destroy an Aura

Throughout the entire history of the WWE, we've never seen, and probably will never see again, a woman booked as strong as Asuka was to start her run. Coming into WWE in 2015 with over a decade of experience wrestling in her native Japan as Kana, Asuka was immediately treated like a huge deal. Hell, even from the first time we saw her on a WWE broadcast, she was seated in the crowd of NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn next to two Hall of Famers in Ric Flair & Sgt. Slaughter. Officially debuting in October 2015, Asuka would go her entire NXT career, nearly two full years, without being pinned or submitted. She was booked so strong, in fact, that instead of dropping the NXT Women's Championship in what would be her last match in NXT at the time to Ember Moon (even after sustaining an injury), an act that is almost always the case for champions leaving NXT for the main roster, Asuka retained and later vacated the title, keeping her streak intact. For a company that is more than willing t
