My Thoughts on RAW (11/14/16): The Scarf of Jericho

  • We kick off the show with Stephanie McMahon & Mick Foley in the ring with all the RAW superstars competing at Survivor Series on the stage. Stephanie says that Shane McMahon & Daniel Bryan will be on RAW tonight. Foley says that Survivor Series is about things like finding out if Kevin Owens is a better champion than AJ Styles or who the weak link in the Shield was. Stephanie also says it's a chance for the women to prove they are better than the SmackDown women, that Enzo & Cass are better than American Alpha, Sami Zayn bringing the Intercontinental Championship to RAW and Brian Kendrick keeping the Cruiserweight Championship on RAW. Foley announces that Cesaro & Sheamus will face Kevin Owens & Roman Reigns, Stephanie announces that Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, and Braun Strowman will face the New Day, and Foley announces that Charlotte & Sasha Banks will face Nia Jax & Alicia Fox tonight. I'm sorry, but it makes absolutely no sense to constantly have the members of the RAW teams facing off. Like, I know they need to have matches because there are like five people not wrestling at Survivor Series on the RAW roster, but in kayfabe, it makes no sense. What if one of the guys on the RAW team gets injured? Who's gonna take their spot? R-Truth? Makes no sense. Stephanie says they have to work as a team or there will be changes. Again, what are they gonna do? Replace Seth Rollins with R-Truth?
  • Cesaro & Sheamus vs Kevin Owens & Roman Reigns-Reigns & Cesaro start with a lock up and a back and forth, ending with Cesaro dropkicking Reigns. Reigns hits a jumping clothesline and tries to tag in Owens, who walks away from the corner. Cesaro & Sheamus  bicker as they tag in & out uppercut Reigns. Sheamus hits a Battering Ram for a near fall before Reigns catches him with a punch off a flying nothing. Cesaro tags in and goes for the Cesaro Swing, but Reigns gets to the ropes. Cesaro sends Reigns out of the ring and Owens goes to argue with Reigns, allowing Cesaro to take them both out with a corkscrew tope before the commercial break. We come back to Owens working over Cesaro. Owens hits a tornado DDT for a near fall before hitting the Cannonball for another near fall. Sheamus gets the "hot" tag and hits the Beats of the Bodhran before Owens throws him out of the ring. Owens tags in Reigns and he & Sheamus fight at ringside. Reigns hits the drive by dropkick before getting back in the ring and clotheslining Sheamus ten times in the corner. Reigns wanks his fist and hits the Superman Punch, but Cesaro breaks up the pin. Owens & Reigns kick Cesaro out of the ring before Reigns calls for the spear. Owens makes the blind tag and the two bicker before Owens eats a Brogue Kick. Reigns spears Sheamus and pulls Owens on top of Sheamus to get the pin and the win. Just to clarify, that's two weeks in a row where Owens got a pin after being knocked out. Fine match, nothing special.
  • Backstage, Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins, and Chris Jericho talk. Jericho says he's the captain of this team and that they need to work together. He gives both of them little presents and Rollins opens his...it's a scarf. But not just any scarf...the Scarf of Jericho...TRY IT ON, MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN. Rollins says he's not a scarf guy and leaves, and Braun says he wants Jericho's scarf. Jericho gives it to him, but he rips it and says he doesn't like scarves either. Jericho is sad that neither of his teammates like scarves. Chris Jericho is the absolute best. This run alone deserves a Hall of Fame induction. Can't Fozzy just like...not take him away from us. He can just like...do concerts via satellite or something. Or get one of those Tupac holograms from Coachella.
  • Bo Dallas vs Sami Zayn-The two lock up before Zayn locks in a hammerlock. Bo forces Zayn into the corner and elbows him to the ground. Bo beats down on Zayn before Zayn clotheslines him, hits the corner exploder suplex, and hits the Helluva Kick for the quick win. Post-match, Zayn says he has the opportunity of a lifetime at Survivor Series. He says it doesn't matter if he has to face Dolph Ziggler or the Miz because he is hell bent on bringing the Intercontinental Championship to RAW.
  • Backstage, Brian Kendrick gives a speech to the entire Cruiserweight roster. He says he'll retain the title at Survivor Series against Kalisto keep the division on RAW. TJ Perkins says he wants his rematch, Rich Swann says he has beaten the champion twice now, and Noam Dar says he wants Kendrick after he attacked him last week. Sin Cara says moving to SmackDown wouldn't be so bad because they'd have a respectable champion in Kalisto. He and Kendrick argue as the other cruiserweights break them up.
  • The New Day vs Chris Jericho, Braun Strowman, and Seth Rollins-Pre-match, the New Day tries to sell merchandise. Jericho & Kofi start off with Kofi dropkicking and hip tossing Jericho for a near fall. Woods tags in before Jericho tags in Rollins. The two exchange holds and go back and forth before Rollins hits a Sling Blade. Jericho tags in and Woods hits the Honor Roll for a near fall. Kofi tags in for an elbow drop before Big E tags in for a big splash for a near fall. Big E hits Snake Eyes into two enziguris before Jericho tags in Strowman. Strowman picks up and slams Kofi on the ground before the commercial break. We come back to Strowman continuing to destroy Kofi. Rollins makes a blind tag and hits a back breaker for a near fall. Kofi hits a standing double stomp and makes the hot tag to Woods. Woods runs wild on Jericho, hitting a tornado DDT, but Strowman breaks up the pin. Strowman takes out Kofi & Big E as Rollins sets up for the Pedigree. Jericho makes the blind tag and goes for the Walls of Jericho, but Woods turns it into a rollup for a near fall. Jericho hits an enziguri and tags in Strowman for a running power slam for the win. Fine match, nothing special. After the match, Rollins & Jericho argue before Rollins hits the Pedigree on Jericho.
  • Backstage, Stephanie & Foley are talking backstage when they are interrupted by Paul Heyman. He says he loves the McMahon competitive spirit before Stephanie calls him fat. Be A Star, Stephanie. Heyman says Lesnar will destroy Goldberg this Sunday while representing RAW. He also says the SmackDown team is good. Foley calls up someone and says they need as much security as possible for Goldberg and Lesnar's face-to-face.
  • In the locker room, Charlotte says she doesn't like that Sasha doesn't get along with the other members of Team RAW and says she's jealous. Sasha says she wants the Women's Championship back before Charlotte says she'll show her how to win a big match tonight.
  • Brian Kendrick vs Sin Cara-Kendrick attacks Sin Cara before the match starts, throws him into the turnbuckle, and throws him out of the ring. The match starts and Kendrick and beats down on Sin Cara. Kendrick dominates for the majority of the match until Sin Cara sends Kendrick over the top rope and hits a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Sin Cara clotheslines Kendrick out again, but Kendrick avoids the suicide dive this time before the commercial break. We come back to Kendrick beating down Sin Cara while he's stuck in the Tree of woe. Sin Cara dodges a charging Kendrick and hits a top rope splash for a near fall. Kendrick hits an inverted exploder suplex for a near fall before Sin Cara hits a powerbomb for a near fall. Kendrick & Sin Cara collide and they have a very audible conversation before Kendrick locks in Captain's Hook for the win. Wow...that was really boring.
  • Backstage, Gallows & Anderson mock Enzo & Cass before Enzo & Cass mock them for being bald.
  • It's time for the face to face between Goldberg & Brock Lesnar. Heyman starts to talk, but Goldberg says it has nothing to do with Heyman. Goldberg tells Heyman to get all the security guards out of the ring, but Heyman says they are there for Goldberg's protection. Heyman runs down the people who Brock has beaten, but Goldberg says he's not one of them. He tells Heyman & Lesnar not to mention his family. Heyman tells him to stay in the fantasy world, so Goldberg rips his shirt off. Goldberg tosses all of the security guards out of the ring and tells Lesnar to get in the ring, but Lesnar backs down.
  • Charlotte & Sasha Banks vs Alicia Fox & Nia Jax-Charlotte & Alica start, only for Nia to tag in. Charlotte tries to tag Sasha in, but Sasha drops off the apron. Nia runs over Charlotte, who immediately tags out to Sasha. Sasha fares well to start but Nia quickly runs her over before the commercial break. We come back to Charlotte & Sasha Banks working over Alicia Fox. Charlotte makes a blind tag, so she & Sasha fight as Alicia tags in Nia, who mows Charlotte over, only to eat a big boot from her. More fighting from Sasha & Charlotte before Alicia hits a crossbody on both of them, only to get locked in the Bank Statement for the submission.
  • Backstage, Foley congratulates team RAW on winning their matches tonight.
  • Emmalina...
  • Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson vs The Shining Stars & The Golden Truth-Enzo & Epico start before Big Cass tags in and sends both the Shining Stars out of the ring, as do the Golden Truth with Gallows & Anderson before the commercial break. We come back to see the Golden Truth hit a double Russian leg sweep on Anderson. Gallows & Anderson take control and work over Truth. Truth hits a spin kick and makes the tag to Primo, who gets beat up by Big Cass. Cass hits the Empire Elbow, Anderson hits a spinebuster, and Gallows & Anderson hit the Magic Killer on Primo. They tell Enzo to go up for the Bada Boom Shaka Locka, but Gallows just makes the pin to get the win.
  • Stephanie, Foley, Shane, and Daniel Bryan. Shane & Bryan hype up the 900th episode of SmackDown tomorrow. Shane says SmackDown is better than RAW and Stephanie says Shane is stealing a spot from another wrestler by competing at Survivor Series. They all say their show is better before Stephanie brings out team RAW. They circle Shane & Bryan, so Bryan brings out team SmackDown. They enter from the crowd and stare down team RAW. Kevin Owens & AJ Styles argue over who is the better champion before Chris Jericho puts AJ Styles & his "stupid soccer mom's haircut" to the List of Jericho. Jericho then adds James Elsworth to the list. Bray Wyatt says that Braun Strowman abandoned the family and he & Orton will destroy the monster he created. Strowman & Orton stare each other down. The teams finally start to fight, with Strowman tearing through team SmackDown until they team up to take him out. Everyone gets their spots in, ending with Reigns & Rollins double powerbombing Styles onto the rest of team SmackDown to close the show.

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: What is the Worst Wrestling Match of All Time?

Note: This series is based off a YouTube series " The Search for the Worst " by I Hate Everything, where he reviews every movie on IMDB's Bottom 100. It's a great, funny series and I'd recommend checking it out. Have you ever just thought to yourself "What is the worst match of all time?"? I don't mean something like a boring John Cena-Randy Orton match, I mean a match where the wrestlers have zero chemistry, little wrestling ability, or literally no idea what they are actually doing. I've thought about this for a while, and I've decided to finally figure it out. So I'm going to watch any match that is: a) A winner of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for the Worst Worked Match of the Year. or:  b) Listed on the 100 worst rated wrestling matches of all time on the Internet Wrestling Database .   (Note: Some matches appear on awards that aren't on the list.) There are 115 (EDIT: Now 99)  matches on here. I pu

Combining high-flying, death-defying wrestling with heavily stylized, cinematic segments that more closely resembled an AMC show than what you'd see on Monday Night Raw, Lucha Underground was a hit. Along with just being a unique, enjoyable wrestling experience, the show also provided a launching pad for several of the wrestlers, whether they be American wrestlers getting their biggest exposure to date in Ricochet (Prince Puma) and Jeff Cobb (Matanza Cueto), ex-WWE superstar John Morrison finding new life as Johnny Mundo, or luchadors like Pentagon Jr. and Fenix branching out into the United States. The latter is the case for Sexy Star. Debuting in 2006, Sexy Star would spend the first eight years of her career wrestl
