My Thoughts on SmackDown (11/29/16): (Dumb) Luck of the Irish

  • We kick off the show with a contract signing for the Women's Championship. Renee Young brings Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch. Bliss says that she thought Becky was trying to avoid her, but she's not smart enough to do that. Becky was that Bliss behaves like a four-year-old, which the crowd reacts to before Bliss tells them not to because "that was rude". I love Alexa Bliss. Becky says that Bliss can't rum from her at TLC and signs the contract and says she got to where she is is because she is relentless. Bliss says that every time Becky talks she feels like she's going to throw up and that she is better than her. She signs the contract before Becky attacks her. The two fight before Becky hits the Bexploder Suplex. Becky clears off the table and sets up Bliss for a top rope Bexploder, but Bliss shoves her off through the table.
  • Dolph Ziggler & Kalisto vs Baron Corbin & The Miz with Maryse-Corbin goes after Kalisto right as the match starts, leaving him open to a dropkick from Ziggler. Ziggler hits a Stinger Splash, but Corbin blocks the follow up neckbreaker and clotheslines Ziggler before the commercial break. We come back to see Corbin throwing Ziggler out of the ring. Miz tags in and grabs a ladder. Miz sets it up against the ring post, but Ziggler avoids it and hits a jumping DDT on him followed by a superkick on Corbin. Ziggler & Miz barely beat the 10 count and Ziggler makes the hot tag to Kalisto. Kalisto flies around the ring, hitting the hurricanrana driver for a near fall. Miz takes out Ziggler at ringside before Corbin saves Miz from a suicide dive from Kalisto. Miz rolls Kalisto back in the ring, only for Ziggler to superkick him when he tries to get back in himself. Maryse throws the ladder into Ziggler at ringside while Kalisto hits Salida del Sol. Kalisto makes the cover, but Corbin hits him with a chair for the DQ.
  • Dasha Fuentes interviews American Alpha. They say they'll teach Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton how to levitate when Jordan suplexes them around the ring and that Gable will knock their lights out.
  • Immediately after, Bray Wyatt appears on-screen and says American Alpha is delusional. Orton says they're naive, close minded, and blind. He says he & Bray are the only two that matters. Orton questions if Luke Harper can get the job done against Kane tonight, and Bray tells him to send Kane back to Hell.
  • Carmella comes out to the ring and apologizes to John Cena for what she's going to do Nikki Bella at TLC, promising to hit her so hard with a chair that her "Bella Twins" will be popping out of her back. She then says that she'll beat her so bad she won't be thinking about marriage anymore and that the E Network will have to cancel Total Bellas. Anyone who gets Total Bellas canceled has to be a babyface. This brings out Nikki Bella, who attacks Carmella. The two brawl before Carmella runs off.
  • It's time for the Ambrose Asylum. Ambrose brings out his guest tonight James Ellsworth. He says he never would've thought that he'd be in WWE and that he was in the right place at the right time. Ellsworth says that he's by Ambrose's side and that he could probably beat AJ Styles again. This brings out Styles, who rags on the Ambrose Asylum before standing on the announce table. Styles says that Ellsworth is just a prop to insult him, so Ambrose drops the fact that Styles has lost to Ellsworth three times. Styles says he's demanding respect and he'll beat it out of him at TLC. Ambrose says that Styles is easy and he'll beat him at TLC. Styles attacks Ambrose & Ellsworth, dropping the steel steps on Ambrose before dropping a ladder on Ellsworth. Styles takes a chair and hits Ellsworth with it before setting up for a Styles Clash on the floor, only to walk over and do it off the steps. Ellsworth is carted off by paramedics.
  • Kane vs Luke Harper-The two go back and forth before Kane knocks Harper down with a shoulder tackle. Kane no sells a superkick before Harper avoids a powerslam and rolls out of the ring. Back in the ring, Kane hits a big boot and Harper rolls back out before the commercial break. We come back to see Harper working over Kane with a headlock. Harper avoids a chokeslam kicks Kane in the head for a near fall. Kane comes back with a DDT and follows up with a sidewalk slam for a near fall. Harper comes back with a dropkick and goes for the 10 punches in the corner, but Kane counters and hits a powerbomb for a near fall. Harper blocks a chokeslam attempt and hits a Boss Man Slam for a near fall. Kane fight back with a belly-to-back suplex and goes to the top rope. Harper dodges a diving clothesline and hits a superkick for a near fall. Harper goes to the top rope, but Kane meets him up there and hits a superplex. Kane hits the chokeslam for the win. This was awful. Seriously, one of the worst matches I've seen in a long time, excluding things I watched for the Worst in the World (cheap plug).
  • Renee Young interviews Becky Lynch. Becky says she has a spine bruise, but she will be defending the title at TLC. Renee tells her that Alexa Bliss has challenged her to a tables match, and Becky accepts.
  • The Wyatt Family vs American Alpha-Orton & Jordan start off with a back and forth before Jordan arm drags Orton and locks in an armbar. Wyatt tags in, but Jordan keeps control and gets him to American Alpha's corner. American Alpha double dropkicks Wyatt to the outside, where he tears apart the announce table. Back in the ring, Wyatt avoids a crossbody by Jordan, sending him into the ropes. The Wyatts beat down on Jordan until Gable makes a blind tag and hits a diving crossbody on Orton. Orton blocks a monkey flip by Gable, but Gable locks in an armbar over the top rope. Gable tries to go to the top rope, but Wyatt knocks him down and to the outside before the commercial break. We come back to Wyatt hitting a body avalanche in the corner on Gable for a near fall. Wyatt hits a DDT on the ring apron for a near fall. The Wyatts continue to beat down on Gable until Gable dropkicks Wyatt. Gable goes for the hot tag. IT'S JASON JORDAN HOT TAG-NOPE! Wyatt knocks Jordan off the apron before Gable can tag out and plants Gable with an Uranage. Back to the beatdown, Orton sets Gable up on the top rope and hits a superplex. Gable finally makes the hot tag. IT'S JASON JORDAN HOT TAG TIME BITCHES! Jordan suplexes Wyatt around the ring before throwing Orton out of the ring, allowing Gable to take him out with a cannonball off the ring apron. Wyatt comes back with a cross body block, but Jordan responds with a German suplex. Jordan pulls the straps down, but the lights go out and Luke Harper appears. This allows Wyatt to set up for Sister Abigail, but Gable stops it with a dropkick. American Alpha sets up for Grand Amplitude, but Orton takes out Gable with an RKO, allowing Wyatt to hit Sister Abigail for the win. Really good match with a really good ending.
  • Backstage, Heath Slater & Rhyno get interviewed before being interrupted by AJ Styles. Rhyno & Styles go face to face before Dean Ambrose runs in and attacks Styles. Ambrose beats down on Styles to close the show.

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: Nia Jax's Worst Matches

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Nia Jax's first run with the WWE can really only be described as hard to watch. Sure, she had a few stand-out matches, most notably (and surprisingly) her match with Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank, and an underrated gem with Bayley at NXT TakeOver: London, but those were always outshined by her most infamous matches and moments. She's since returned to WWE and, for the most part, seems to have improved a bit, but the reputation she got from her initial run is gonna be hard to shake off. This week, I'll be looking at some of Jax's worst matches. These include just flat-out bad matches, and matches that have become infamous examples of her reckless in-ring work. Match #1: vs Charlotte Flair-April 10th, 2017 Raw The first match we'll be looking at is from the April 10, 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw, when Nia took on Charlotte Flair. The two had been on the losing e

Worst in the World: Eric Young & Shark Boy vs Generation Me-TNA Destination X 2011

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Throughout the late 2000s and 2010s, few tag teams made as much noise on the independent scene as the Young Bucks. Really breaking out at a time when WWE made their tag division a borderline afterthought, Matt & Nick Jackson were almost unmatched in terms of elite matches on the indys, most notably in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla & Ring of Honor before joining New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Bullet Club, becoming mainstays of the group as it reached its peak throughout the mid-2010s. Sure, their style hasn't endeared them to old-school wrestling fans, but you can't deny their impact on wrestling. And with the arrival of All Elite Wrestling in 2019, North American fans would finally get to see the Young Bucks on national television for the first time... However... In what has become somewhat of a footnote in their careers, the Young Bucks had been on a nationally televised wrestlin
