My Thoughts on RAW (11/28/16): Everybody Hates Charly

  • Before the show starts, I'm just going to assume that Emmalina is still premiering soon
  • We kick off the show with Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel. He brings out "the longest reigning Universal Champion ever" Kevin Owens. They talk about how Owens' appearing on two Highlight Reels in a row is historic before burying Thanksgiving. Owens says that Canadian Thanksgiving & Canadians are better than Americans before saying that he's thankful for being the Universal Champion, for being the face of RAW, and for his best friend Chris Jericho. Jericho says he's thankful for Owens, his scarf, and for Seth Rollins. He's thankful that Seth Rollins proved that he is the epitome of a stupid idiot. Jericho says he didn't interfere last week by wearing a Sin Cara mask, saying that Sin Cara put on a Chris Jericho mask and interfered. It was the Mask of Jericho...and he PUT IT ON, MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! Owens says that the powerbomb on the apron he gave to Rollins injured him before Roman Reigns comes out. Reigns says that Kevin Owens is a joke as Universal Champion, but Owens says that Reigns calling himself "The Guy" is a joke. Reigns says he is "The Guy" while Owens is just a guy, and he can't win anything without Chris Jericho by his side. Reigns says that Jericho is the only reason Owens is still Universal Champion. Jericho threatens to put Reigns on the list, but Owens yells at him, says he doesn't need Jericho, and threatens to powerbomb Reigns on the ring apron. Reigns challenges Owens to a match tonight, where if he wins he gets a title shot at Roadblock, which Owens accepts.
  • Backstage, Kevin Owens is complaining about Roman Reigns when Chris Jericho questions why Owens said he doesn't need him & yelled at him. Owens says that Jericho doesn't help him before Jericho says their friendship is over. Mick Foley walks up to confront Jericho, but Jericho just leaves.
  • Braun Strowman vs R-Truth-Strowman quickly clotheslines Truth before splashing him in the corner. Strowman hits the running powerslam for the quick win. After the match, Goldust goes after Strowman, but Strowman starts bearhugging him. Sami Zayn runs down and gets some hits in, only to eat a Yokosuka Cutter for his troubles. Strowman hangs Zayn up in the Tree of Woe, but referees and Foley come down to stop him from hurting Zayn.
  • After a commercial break, Byron Saxton interviews Foley in the ring. Foley says that he's just trying to keep Zayn safe, but Zayn says that maybe he needs to be saved from Foley. Foley says he made the match last week because Stephanie wanted to fire Zayn. Foley says Zayn will never beat Strowman, and Zayn blasts him for being in his way and being a hypocrite.
  • Backstage, Charlotte is listening to music when Dana Brooke walks up. Dana says Charlotte's victory party will be great before Charlotte says she'll cement herself as the greatest female wrestler in WWE history. She tells Dana to leave.
  • Cedric Alexander vs Tony Nese with Drew Gulak-The two trade holds and go back and forth before hitting a backflip headscissor takedown and a dropkick. We see that Alicia Fox is watching this match backstage. I'm not sure why. A distraction from Gulak allows Nese to take control and hit a springboard moonsault for a near fall. Nese works over Alexander while Gulak yells at him to "CRUSH HIS LARYNX!" Alexander fights back and hits a handspring roundhouse kick followed by a corner enziguri. Gulak hops up on the apron to distract the referee, only to get a top rope chop for his troubles. That distraction allowed Nese to a pumphandle driver for the win. Way too short, needed more time.
  • Charly Caruso interviews Chris Jericho. He says that this fight was serious unlike last week and says that if Owens doesn't need him, he doesn't need Owens. He yells at Charly to leave before going to his car. His driver knocks the List of Jericho out of his hand by accident, so Jericho calls him a stupid idiot. He is suddenly attacked by Seth Rollins, who beats him up and throws him around the parking garage before giving him a Pedigree on top of a car.
  • Charlotte (c) with Dana Brooke vs Sasha Banks-Women's Championship-Sasha almost instantly gets the Bank Statement locked in, but Charlotte gets to the ropes. Sasha then takes out Dana Brooks at ringside before hitting a diving crossbody on Charlotte for a near fall. Charlotte knocks Sasha to the outside, but Sasha pulls her out and the two fight at ringside. Sasha throws Charlotte over the barricade, so Charlotte comes back and throws Sasha into the barricade in a very wonky spot. The two fight beyond the barricade before the referee calls for a double count-out. However, Foley comes out and announces that this match will happen again later tonight as a Falls Count Anywhere match. Why not just do it now? That doesn't make any sense.
  • Rusev vs Enzo Amore-Before the match, Enzo says that Rusev got lucky by beating him last week.
He also says that Lana liked seeing him naked and thinks about him "stuffing her turkey." Just remember that Brad Maddox got fired for saying "cocky pricks" during a DARK MATCH when lines like this get dropped on TV. Rusev almost immediately kicks Enzo in the dick for the DQ.
  • Charly Caruso talks about Mark Henry starring in the movie Incarnate before asking him about the movie. Henry starts to talk before Titus O'Neil walks up and says Henry stole his role in the movie. That's a load of sh*t, did he not see that promo he cut on Darren Young a few months ago. No director would consider him for anything. Henry tries to leave so Titus grabs him, so Henry shoves him down.
  • Rich Swann vs Noam Dar-Brian Kendrick is on commentary because let's face it, he's really the only guy with mic skills in the entire division. Dar & Swann go back and forth before Swann hits two dropkicks and almost gets the Rich Kick early. Dar then punts Swann's leg out from under him for a near fall before whipping him hard into the corner. Dar locks in a standing crossface the two trade strikes. Swann takes Dar of his feet with a cradle before kicking him in the head. Swann goes for Rolling Thunder, but Dar gets his knees up for the near fall. Swann gets a near fall off another roll up before hitting a big Rich Kick for the win. Just like the last cruiserweight match, it was way too short. It's a shame that WWE opted not to move the division to SmackDown because RAW is doing nothing with them. After the match, Corey Graves interviews Swann. Swann sends Graves off before calling out Kendrick and says he's doubting himself. Swann says he'll defeat Kendrick on the premiere of 205 Live and become the Cruiserweight Champion.
  • Sheamus & Cesaro are out at a bar celebrating that they never have to team together again. They each blame the other for losing on RAW last week, but they admit they are a great team. Suddenly, some of the other people in the bar mock Sheamus & Cesaro, with one of them recognizing Sheamus as "that Irish fella from Ireland". Sheamus & Cesaro ending up brawling with the bar patrons, ending with Cesaro throwing a guy through a wall. Sheamus hops over the bar and he & Cesaro have a beer.
  • Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens-Owens attacks Reigns before the bell and continues the beatdown after the bell rings. Owens kicks Reigns out of the ring and takes the fight to ringside. The two brawl at ringside before going back in the ring, where Owens hits a senton for a near fall before the commercial break. We come back to Reigns clotheslining Owens a bunch. Owens quickly turns the tables and DDTs Reigns for a near fall. Owens hits the Cannonball for another near fall before locking in a headlock because he is the Headlock Master. Reigns starts to break free, so Owens hits another senton for a near fall before going back to the headlock. Owens goes for another senton when Reigns tries to break free, but Reigns gets his knees up to block it. Reigns hits some vicious clotheslines in the corner before booting Owens in the face. Owens avoids a Samoan Drop before the two trade punches. Reigns finally hits the Samoan Drop for a near fall. Reigns wanks his fist and calls for the Superman Punch, but Owens rolls out, only to eat a Drive By Dropkick. Owens knees Reigns when he tries to get back in the ring and superkicks him for a near fall. Owens goes to the top rope, but Reigns meets him there with a Superman Punch that sends Owens to the outside. Reigns hits another Superman Punch on the outside before going for the Spear. Owens blocks it with a knee, but Reigns hits it on the second attempt for the win. Good match. This means that Reigns will face Owens for the Universal Championship at Roadblock.
  • Charly Caruso tries to interview Kevin Owens, but he's having none of it. Owens says the reason he lost tonight was because he was worried about Chris Jericho before yelling at Charly to leave. Jesus, why is everyone so mean to Charly Caruso? In the words of Josh Matthews, she's just trying to do her job.
  • Michael Cole interviews Paul Heyman. Heyman says he & Lesnar screwed up by taking Goldberg lightly. He says they thought it would be an easy payday for Lesnar, but Goldberg broke Lesnar's ribs on the first spear. Heyman says that the loss has embarrassed Lesnar and now he thinks he has something to prove, and that scares him. Heyman says that if Lesnar has something to prove, then Lesnar will prove it. Heyman also says that if Lesnar will be in the Royal Rumble with Goldberg and he will be a victim.
  • Knew it.
  • The New Day (c) with Kofi Kingston vs Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson-Tag Team Championships-Before the match, the New Day throws Booty-Os on the commentators. Michael Cole yells "HOW IS THIS POSITIVE!" as Byron Saxton marks out because Byron is a nerd. Gallows & Anderson quickly beat up Kofi & Big E before Anderson hits a powerbomb on Woods for a near fall. Gallows & Anderson continue to beat down on Woods until Woods hits an enziguri on Gallows. Big E tags in and hits three belly-to-belly suplexes on Anderson. Anderson then avoids the Big Ending and hits a single leg dropkick for a near fall. Big E follows up with the spear through the ropes and sets up for the Midnight Hour. Gallows breaks it up and Anderson hits a spinebuster on Woods for a near fall. Gallows & Anderson hit a powerbomb/diving neckbreaker combo for a near fall before setting up for the Magic Killer. Big E breaks it up, but Gallows hits him with Gallow's Pole. That's not a euphemism, that's what he calls a chokebomb. Woods fights back and manages to pin Anderson with a roll-up while holding the tights.
  • Backstage, Sasha Banks is getting ready for her match when Bayley walks up and wishes her luck. Sasha says this isn't about Bayley and vows to win the Women's Championship tonight, and she'll dedicate her win to Ric Flair.
  • Charlotte (c) vs Sasha Banks in a Falls Count Anywhere match-Women's Championship-Sasha quickly dropkicks Charlotte, who rolls out of the ring only to eat a suicide dive. Sasha suplexes Charlotte on the outside for a near fall. Both women go down off a double clothesline spot before the commercial break. We come back to Charlotte working over Sasha in the ring. Charlotte goes for the Figure 8, but Sasha blocks in and blocks a roll up by sitting down on Charlotte. Charlotte dodges the double knees in the corner before suplexing Sasha onto the apron. The two trade blows before Charlotte boots Sasha off the apron to the floor. Charlotte hits Natural Selection off the steps, but Sasha kicks out. Sasha grabs a kendo stick and beats down on Charlotte. Sasha counters a suplex on the outside, only to eat a neckbreaker. Charlotte locks in the Figure 8, but Sasha breaks it up by hitting Charlotte with the kendo stick. The two fight up to the stage before Charlotte starts taking apart the announce table. Charlotte boots Sasha off the stage and hits a moonsault off the apron for a near fall. Charlotte drags Sahsa back to ringside, but Sasha fights out and rams Charlotte into the ring post. Sasha back body drops Charlotte on the floor before hitting a double knees senton off the barricade for a near fall. Sasha batters Charlotte with the kendo stick some more before the two fight into the crowd. The two fight up the stairs, where Sasha wraps Charlotte up in the railing and locks in the Bank Statement for the submission win. Great match, arguably the best these two have had together. After the match, Ric Flair comes out and raises Sasha's hand in to close the show. Can't wait for Sasha to lose the title at Roadblock, continuing the never ending cycle of Charlotte-Sasha Banks matches.

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: Nia Jax's Worst Matches

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Nia Jax's first run with the WWE can really only be described as hard to watch. Sure, she had a few stand-out matches, most notably (and surprisingly) her match with Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank, and an underrated gem with Bayley at NXT TakeOver: London, but those were always outshined by her most infamous matches and moments. She's since returned to WWE and, for the most part, seems to have improved a bit, but the reputation she got from her initial run is gonna be hard to shake off. This week, I'll be looking at some of Jax's worst matches. These include just flat-out bad matches, and matches that have become infamous examples of her reckless in-ring work. Match #1: vs Charlotte Flair-April 10th, 2017 Raw The first match we'll be looking at is from the April 10, 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw, when Nia took on Charlotte Flair. The two had been on the losing e

Worst in the World: Eric Young & Shark Boy vs Generation Me-TNA Destination X 2011

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Throughout the late 2000s and 2010s, few tag teams made as much noise on the independent scene as the Young Bucks. Really breaking out at a time when WWE made their tag division a borderline afterthought, Matt & Nick Jackson were almost unmatched in terms of elite matches on the indys, most notably in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla & Ring of Honor before joining New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Bullet Club, becoming mainstays of the group as it reached its peak throughout the mid-2010s. Sure, their style hasn't endeared them to old-school wrestling fans, but you can't deny their impact on wrestling. And with the arrival of All Elite Wrestling in 2019, North American fans would finally get to see the Young Bucks on national television for the first time... However... In what has become somewhat of a footnote in their careers, the Young Bucks had been on a nationally televised wrestlin
