My Thoughts on RAW (11/7/16): Yours, Mine, and Our Stupid Idiots

  • We kick off the show with Stephanie McMahon...boo. She says Mick Foley can't be in Glasgow for RAW tonight and talks about RAW vs SmackDown like it's the presidential race. If you're wondering which show is Trump & which show is Hillary...I'll leave that up to you. She brings out the four members of Team RAW, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, and Braun Strowman. Quick note; Corey Graves notes that Roman got an "extraordinary reaction" when he came out. It was mostly boos. Come on, Corey. I expect this from Byron...not you. Stephanie then announces that the final member of Team RAW will be...Seth Rollins! Owens questions the decision, but Rollins says him being on the team guarantees a victory at Survivor Series. She then puts up a picture of Team SmackDown. Funny moment, Stephanie says everybody on Team SmackDown belongs on the List of Jericho, so Jericho puts them on! God, he's the actual best. She says that the five are the best RAW has and that they better fight like their jobs depend on it...because they do. She leaves, and Owens & Jericho try to make amends with their teammates. They apologize for being Universal Champion to Rollins & Reigns. He says they're stupid idiots...but they're their stupid idiots. Jericho says that if they listen to him & Owens, they'll win. Owens & Jericho then put down the Shield before Rollins & Reigns attack them. The four brawl before Strowman decides to beat up Jericho & Rollins. Stephanie comes back out and says tonight, they'll be having a fatal 5-way...pretty much for sh*ts and giggles.
  • We get a video hyping up the new "205 Live" show for the Cruiserweight Division. It premieres November 29th right after SmackDown. Talking Smack will also be moved to right after 205 Live. Hey, if it lets the cruiserweights get longer matches and not just throwaway 6-man tags then I'm all for it. Speaking of cruiserweights...
  • Rich Swann & Sin Cara vs Brian Kendrick & Noam Dar-FINALLY! "The Champagne Supernova" Noam Dar makes his debut and gets a huge pop from the hometown crowd. Dar & Swann start with a back and forth before Dar hits a corner dropkick for a near fall. Swann forces Dar into his corner and tags in Sin Cara, who clotheslines Dar out of the ring and takes out both Dar & Kendrick with a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Sin Cara goes to the second rope, only for Kendrick to pull him over the top rope and to the ground before the commercial break. We come back to Kendrick working over Sin Cara with a headlock. Sin Cara hits a school boy powerbomb on Dar and makes the hot tag to Swann. Swann runs wild on Kendrick before hitting a top rope Frankensteiner. Swann makes the cover, but Dar breaks it up with a dropkick. Sin Cara sends Dar to the outside and hits a slingshot senton bomb to the outside. Swann then gets a roll up and pins Kendrick for the win. Fine match, but that's it. After the match, Kendrick takes the mic and berates Dar and says Dar lost the match, not him. He says Dar has no talent and has no heart and says he's the best cruiserweight in the world. He says Dar always fails when it matters most before cheap shotting him. Dar fights back and hits a running enziguri that sends Kendrick out of the ring.
  • Backstage, Stephanie McMahon says she can't be on SmackDown tomorrow, but she invites Shane & Daniel Bryan to be on RAW next week. Sami Zayn walks into her office, where she says she doesn't like him because he's always upbeat and that he shouldn't be challenging Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series...Rusev should. Why? Did she not see what happened last time Rusev & Ziggler feuded? It was sh*t. She says she's booked a match between the two, with the winner facing Ziggler for the title.
  • The tag teams of Team RAW come out; Enzo & Cass, Gallows & Anderson, The Golden Truth (ugh), and Cesaro & Sheamus. Enzo starts dancing before Sheamus tells him to stop. He says Ireland is a great country to piss off the crowd, so Cesaro says they like him just as much as everyone else does. Sheamus rags HARD on Scotland before he & Cesaro bicker over who should be the captain of Team RAW. Enzo & Cass interject and makes jokes about how Sheamus is pale & Irish. I'm starting to actual hate these two. Luke Gallows calls Sheamus a nerd for no reason. The highlight of the night. Cesaro then insults him & Anderson by saying if they wanted to insult him, they should have said he looked like the third member of the Club. Sheamus & Cesaro argue before Goldust tries to interject. Sheamus tries to leave before the New Day finally come out wearing kilts, with Woods playing bagpipes and Big E painted up like Braveheart. Woods says that the bagpipes are Francesca's cousin Agnus before saying playing the bagpipes are hard, and he respects the Scottish people for being able to play them. Sheamus accidentally smacks Cesaro before questioning the New Day. Woods says they're the team captains and says they'll be fighting for Team RAW. Anderson & Gallows says RAW will lose with the New Day as captains and they're out too. Big E recites the speech from Braveheart because he is the best. He's right up there with Jericho. Enzo says SmackDown will lose before Goldust says Big E has a brave heart. Cesaro says he & Sheamus are in before Sheamus says Cesaro doesn't speak for the team and says they're in. That leaves Gallows & Anderson, who say the New Day aren't in charge of them and that they'll stab them in the back the first chance they get. Gallows says they'll handle SmackDown by themselves, because like the New Day, SmackDown is a joke. Woods then slams Gallows & Anderson, saying that if the New Day are jokes, then what does that make them, who they've beaten multiple times and are Tag Team Champions. Kofi then says that Stephanie booked a match between the New Day and Gallows & Anderson for tonight. Great segment, very funny.
  • The New Day vs Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson-Kofi & Anderson start with the New Day quickly starting the Unicorn Stampede. Big E tags in locks in an abdominal stretch while spanking Anderson. I think that should be called "50 Shades of Day." Gallows turns the tide with a roundhouse kick from the apron, allowing Anderson to take control. Anderson & Gallows beat down Big E until he dodges an elbow drop from Gallows. Kofi gets the hot tag and runs wild on Anderson, hitting the Boom Drop and calling for Trouble in Paradise. Anderson avoids it but still eats a double jump crossbody. The New Day go for the Midnight Hour, but Gallows breaks it up with a big boot to Big E, allowing Anderson to hit a spinebuster on Kofi. Anderson & Gallows finish Big E with a Magic Killer for the win. Fine little match, nothing special.
  • Backstage, The Golden Truth walk backstage, where Truth tells Goldust that he traded their spot on Team RAW...for a timeshare...in Puerto Rico. Goldust angrily walks off to fix Truth's mess.
  • Backstage, Owens & Jericho barge into Braun Strowman's lockerroom. Jericho threatens to put Strowman on the list of Jericho, but Owens defuses the situation. Owens then proposes that the three of them work together tonight. Jericho agrees that the team is a good idea, but Strowman says he's on his own team tonight. He leaves, so Jericho puts him on the list.
  • Emmalina is still premiering soon.
  • The Golden Truth vs The Shining Stars-Truth & Epico start off with Truth hitting a hip toss. Truth hits a leg drop after dancing, something I've only ever seen him do in WWE 2K17, before the Shining Stars take control. The Stars beatdown until Truth makes the hot tag to Goldust. Goldust runs wild on the Stars, catching Epico with an atomic drop before bulldogging Primo. Goldust gets the ten punches in the corner before hitting a spinebuster. Epico tries to sell him the timeshare, so Truth clotheslines him out of the ring. This allows Primo to roll up Goldust and get the win with his feet on the ropes.
  • Michael Cole is in the ring and explains the rules of Survivor Series. You know, because Survivor Series only 19 years old at this point, people still might be confused. He brings out Charlotte. She says she was born a leader and says none of the women on SmackDown can take her spotlight. Cole then brings out Nia Jax. She says she doesn't work for Charlotte before Cole brings out Alicia Fox. She says she can be civil with Nia despite their past rivalry. Cole brings out Bayley next, who hugs him before saying that she'll prove Charlotte wrong and that she won't be the weak link at Survivor Series. The crowd sings the Bayley-fied "Hey Baby!" for Bayley as Charlotte covers her ears. That's great. That might actually be the first non-wrestling thing Charlotte has ever done that I've enjoyed. However, the crowd won't SHUT UP when Bayley tries to cut her promo, so Bayley kind of tries to shout over them. Charlotte interrupts Cole and introduces the last member. She teases that it's Sasha Banks, only to reveal that it is Dana Brooke. However, Cole reveals that the real fifth member of Team RAW is, in fact, Sasha Banks! Charlotte says that thought Sasha was too injured to be on Team RAW, but Sasha says it'll take more than a few table to keep her down. She says Team RAW needs her and Charlotte says she isn't the boss anymore. Nia & Sasha then have a staredown before the commercial break. F*ck the crowd, they pretty much ruined the segment by not shutting up and continuing to sing over everyone's promos.
  • Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Alica Fox vs Nia Jax, Charlotte, and Dana Brooke--Nia & Bayley start with Nia overpowering Bayley. Fox tags in and keeps hopping on Nia's back, but Nia keeps control and takes her to the heel's corner. Fox is able to turn the tides and bring Charlotte to the babyfaces corner. Sasha tags in, but Charlotte has none of it and quickly tags out to Dana. Sasha cleans house before all three babyfaces baseball slide Nia, which she no-sells. Back in the ring, Sasha works over Dana before Nia tags in and runs over Sasha and shrieks before the commercial break. We come back to Dana working over Sasha. The heels continue to work over Sasha until Sasha reverse a bodyslam with an O'Connor Roll and makes the tag to Bayley. Bayley runs wild on Charlotte, hitting a draping stunner, a corner back elbow, and a corkscrew back elbow, but Nia breaks up the pin. Chaos ensues as Nia ragdolls Fox into the corner by her hair and splashes her before Charlotte accidentally big boots her while aiming for Sasha. After throwing Sasha out of the ring, Charlotte takes a Belly-to-Bayley and Bayley gets the win. Pretty good match.
  • Backstage, Seth Rollins gets interviewed. He says he joined Team RAW because he was promised future opportunities if he joined before being interrupted by Braun Strowman, who threatens to snap him in half. Rollins says that's one more person who doesn't like him.
  • Rusev vs Sami Zayn-#1 Contenders match for the Intercontinental Championship-Rusev rushes Zayn to start and beats him down in the corner before whipping him into the corner for a near fall. Rusev continues to beat down Zayn. Zayn comes back with a pop-up dropkick before Rusev rolls out of the ring before the commercial break. We come back to Rusev working over Zayn. The two exchange strikes, with Rusev getting the better of the exchange. Nothing Zayn does seems to do anything to Rusev, who barely reacts to anything Zayn hits him with. Zayn sends Rusev out of the ring before hitting a somersault tope and a diving crossbody back in the ring for a near fall. Rusev blocks the Blue Thunder Bomb and hits a big roundhouse kick for a near fall. Zayn dodges a corner splash, only to run into a superkick when going for the Helluva Kick for a near fall. Rusev goes to the top rope, only for Zayn to surprise him with a Helluva Kick for the win. I really enjoyed this match. Good psychology & storytelling.
  • Seth Rollins vs Braun Strowman vs Chris Jericho vs Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns-Owens & Jericho rush Rollins and the three brawl to the outside, leaving Reigns and Strowman alone in the ring. Jericho & Owens hop into the ring to cheer him on, only to get knocked to the outside. Reigns & Strowman continue to stare eachother down before exchanging punches and Strowman clotheslining Reigns to the ground. Rollins goes after Strowman and goes ham on him with a kendo stick before grabbing a table. Strowman hits him from behind and grabs the table before the commercial break. We come back Rollins avoiding being reverse chokeslammed through a table, only to get clotheslined. Strowman then hits a reverse chokeslam on Reigns and boots Jericho. Owens goes after Strowman, only to get clotheslined. The other four gang up on Strowman, but he overpowers all of them, only to take a superkick from Owens, an enziguri from Jericho, a diving knee from Rollins, and Superman Punch from Reigns before falling out of the ring. Rollins hits a Sling Blade on Owens before Reigns & Rollins stare eachother down. Reigns Superman Punches Strowman again before Rollins takes him out with a suicide dive. Rollins & Reigns continue to beat down on Strowman by the table and you know what comes next. Rollins & Reigns go for a double powerbomb, but Jericho & Owens make the save. Reigns takes out Jericho & Owens before Superman Punching Strowman again. Owens & Jericho recover and beat down Reigns at ringside before Owens rips a Reigns' fan's sign, which fan gives the hammiest, most over-the-top reaction to. After Owens takes out Reigns with a Cannonball, Rollins hits an STO into the barricade on Owens before powerbombing Jericho through the table with Strowman laying on top of it. Rollins & Owens go back and forth in the ring before Rollins hits a superkick for a near fall. Owens dodges a Frog Splash, but Rollins counters the Pop-Up Powerbomb with a Pedigree. Rollins makes the cover, but Jericho pulls the referee out of the ring. Rollins takes out Jericho with a suicide dive and hits a Pedigree on him in the ring. Everyone gets their spots in before Reigns Superman Punches Owens, causing him to land on Jericho and get the pin for the win. Enjoyable match, odd ending though.

Worst in the World: The Gimmick Battle Royal-WrestleMania X-Seven

(Special thanks to Frost for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) WrestleMania X-Seven. Heavily considered the not just the best WrestleMania, but the greatest wrestling show of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven took place during the hottest period in the WWF's history, and features just about every one of the hottest acts in wrestling at the time. An undercard featuring the likes of Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal, Kane, and the Big Show. One of the biggest female stars in the history of wrestling in Chyna. A killer TLC match between the Dudley Boyz, the Hardy Boyz, and Edge & Christian. A wild brawl between The Undertaker and Triple H. A massive main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hell, even the father vs son Street Fight between Vince & Shane McMahon. It's a star-studded affair. However, there's one match that sticks out like

Worst in the World: The Last Rites Match-TNA Destination X 2007

(Special thanks to an anonymous user for suggesting this match. If you'd like to see a match covered on the Worst in the World, leave a comment down below.) An often discussed aspect of professional wrestling is the backstage politicking of Hulk Hogan. Throughout his career as a major attraction in wrestling, Hogan's philosophy has always been to protect Hulk Hogan...OK, sometimes he'd help Ed Leslie, but most of the time it was to protect Hulk Hogan. Because of that philosophy and Hogan's influence as a top guy, there have been multiple instances where a company's booking and other wrestlers have suffered as a result. Would having Mr. Perfect win the 1990 Royal Rumble made sense and could have elevated a rising star and potentially created a new main event player? Yes, but that would require Hogan to not win, and that doesn't work for Hogan, so he wins the Rumble even though he doesn't need elevating. Would booking Randy Orton to beat Hogan at SummerSlam 20

Worst in the World: D-Generation X vs Brothers of Destruction-Crown Jewel

This match didn't need to happen. After Triple H and the Undertaker had one of the most brutally bad matches of 2018 at Super Show-Down not even a month earlier, nobody wanted to see them try to wrestle again. Also, nobody wanted to see Shawn Michaels come out of retirement after his fantastic sendoff in 2010, especially for a match like this. But here we are, Triple H & Shawn Michaels facing The Undertaker & Kane in 2018. The combined ages of these four at the time is 206. That's a number you'd expect to see from a match at Heroes of Wrestling. And anyone can come up with their own reason as to why this match is happening, but that would just be ignoring the actual reason. For those of you who don't know, Crown Jewel was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. That might not seem like important information, but you can't really discuss this match without mentioning it. Despite the numerous reasons that running shows in Saudi Arabia is morally wrong (their abuse

Worst in the World: Nia Jax's Worst Matches

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Nia Jax's first run with the WWE can really only be described as hard to watch. Sure, she had a few stand-out matches, most notably (and surprisingly) her match with Ronda Rousey at Money in the Bank, and an underrated gem with Bayley at NXT TakeOver: London, but those were always outshined by her most infamous matches and moments. She's since returned to WWE and, for the most part, seems to have improved a bit, but the reputation she got from her initial run is gonna be hard to shake off. This week, I'll be looking at some of Jax's worst matches. These include just flat-out bad matches, and matches that have become infamous examples of her reckless in-ring work. Match #1: vs Charlotte Flair-April 10th, 2017 Raw The first match we'll be looking at is from the April 10, 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw, when Nia took on Charlotte Flair. The two had been on the losing e

Worst in the World: Eric Young & Shark Boy vs Generation Me-TNA Destination X 2011

Click the link here to vote in the poll and help decide the next edition of the Worst in the World. Throughout the late 2000s and 2010s, few tag teams made as much noise on the independent scene as the Young Bucks. Really breaking out at a time when WWE made their tag division a borderline afterthought, Matt & Nick Jackson were almost unmatched in terms of elite matches on the indys, most notably in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla & Ring of Honor before joining New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Bullet Club, becoming mainstays of the group as it reached its peak throughout the mid-2010s. Sure, their style hasn't endeared them to old-school wrestling fans, but you can't deny their impact on wrestling. And with the arrival of All Elite Wrestling in 2019, North American fans would finally get to see the Young Bucks on national television for the first time... However... In what has become somewhat of a footnote in their careers, the Young Bucks had been on a nationally televised wrestlin
